Lets see some logs... I want to know how well Paladins hold up in the Grimswarms.

Ick. Their spells don't disable things that shake stuns very well, and of course will still trigger the shroud. I imagine they would need to ambush heads, avoid giant camps, and run around a lot.

Hmm, I don't have any logs saved of it, and I'm only 34 so things might change as I get higher in level, but I've never had any trouble at all. Done four or five in total. Didn't even need to use 1630. Just pop Zealot on the group and mstrike to kingdom come. I got slowly plinked for 4, 5 damage at a time, but every now and then just mash 1607 and get back up to full health. It'd be a different story without spells of course. I wouldn't use Zealot, but in full wizard spells with a small statue I have something like a 250 DS in offensive with zealot on, even with two handed weapons. Things don't swing much higher than that in a warcamp at 34.

It's not much different than a berserking warrior in a warcamp except instead of getting hurt less because of extra redux you can heal yourself when you feel like it or run the hell away if you need to.

Add a bard to the group and you're killing stuff so fast that you won't even need to ambush. Pretty much everything in a warcamp has nothin' for DS so 1 swing = 1 stun or 1 kill. That's good enough for me for disabling things.

The group I did them in was bard + warrior + paladin, or just bard + paladin. I held up the best out of the three. If I do any more I'll save the log for ya.

Edit to add:

Only done one solo, and it was low level, and was only solo half the way because my partner died. Paladins are great assets for grouping on warcamps, but solo it's a little harder.

Fallen's right about not disabling things fast enough. 1630's nice but it won't hit 10 things at once. Lowering everything's DS is nice with 1614, but it only goes so far.

I still maintain though that if you're in a group with other swingers, it's insta-win. My favorite group was two weapon user warrior + polearm bard + self + zealot + whatever the name of 1605 is. Took like 5 minutes to clear the thing.

At 20 with a two hander in chain I was getting hit a lot. Full wizard spells, statue, etc, still getting a lot of hits. I never use zealot. I could clear but I had to be careful and it always helps to have more than one. I'd get hit by bolts mainly and TD wasn't high enough.

I fix skilled to sword and board and now I can't be hit and bolts don't touch me. Sooooometimes CS attacks get through but the vines and clouds are the only things that really get me now. Even laying on the ground they can't really touch me.

So, 1618/1609/1605 (I like to take a THW warrior with me and a cleric if she's on) and we can clear really quickly. Target rangers, anyone that can ewave and then clerics/empaths and you're good. Melee's fall quick and can't touch me...but that's cause of the shield, had to be much smarter with a sledgehammer. Definitly run to town and back when I get bleeders, bad thing about camps is that things can go down hill really fast if you're not watching or with too much screen scroll.

Lets see some logs... I want to know how well Paladins hold up in the Grimswarms.

I've been testing out GoS with my Paladin in case the CoL changes make me want to switch.

Solo wise, it's doable. Granted, I have 451 DS in offensive with Zealot up, and thats only with Mage spells and self spelled, not even with a small statue.

The thing I noticed, as most always mention or already know, is that Troll camps are likely the toughest due to the regen rate and so forth. I'm aligned to Eorgina which is a plus since my 1615 and 1630 are fire based, but even then it's still a bit tough.

Orc camps are a cinch.

1630 does account towards affecting the Shroud burst. However it's only considered a minor spell, in that if you cast it once and it ripples, in 30 seconds the shroud will go back to normal. So basically, if you cast 1630 once every 31 seconds you won't have to worry about the shroud blowing you up or dispelling you etc.

I use a perfect maul, so I'm not sure how a Tower Shield Paladin would do, I imagine his defensive capabilites would be greater with 1609, but it may take him longer to kill stuff unless he aims from the open.

The few times I have gone camping with my capped paladin have had very good results, but I have no logs.

He is a voln master and goes in to battle with his spells (1661/140 sans 140 and 119), 503, 509, 911, 401, 406, 414, 202 (when I can get it), and a pure potion. He uses either 8x unpadded full plate or 5x unpadded breastplate depending on whether or not he wants to cast 100s in combat (210 armor ranks). He uses a 7x tower shield, a 10x falchion, and zealot. His AG badge gives +10 to edged.

That is a continuous 660 attack, 430 CS, and an around a 420 melee defense. It is highly effective in camps though I avoid the giant camps as they require a take-down before the killing head-shot, something 1630 and 1615 make easy if not mana/shroud intensive.

Lying so much like a forgotten rag doll, a body has been discarded in the middle of the open space, its limbs sprawled and twisted at unnatural angles. You also see a Grimswarm orc barbarian and a Grimswarm orc barbarian.
