I used to play a MUD called Elvenrunes, if any of you have played it, it used to be great fun. I also played many many free MUDs during my MUDing life. I started from RP intensive "no PK" MUDs but I gradually moved to PK MUDs.

What I have realized is that PvP is the single most greatest variable for fun for me if done well. Sometimes, especially in a MUD like Elvenrunes, it rivaled or surpassed me playing a 10 man Halo 3 game with my close buddies. The intensity is epic.

I think CvC can be like 80% of Gemstone's "fun".

I really don't think the professions are all unbalanced for CvC.

I think people are CvCing incorrectly when they sit at the border and exchange command lines until one of them dies.

I've had CvC battles in Elvenrunes that went upwards of 2 hours. Chasing each other across 3 towns and finally ending up in a kill when my opponent mistakenly teleported from a town into the ocean and drowned. Absolutely, one of the top gaming experiences of my life it felt like 10 minutes although 2 hours passed.

Anyhow feel free to expound!

GS is too carebear and the GMs are too gay for anything other than playing patty cake with each other.

I'LL FIX MY SIG LATER BTW!!!!1

I don't think the GM's have a problem with CvC if you're roleplaying it with the other person. Also there is the challenge verb.

But as far as just going around killing random people for no good reason well, thats a good way to get banned.

And being a follower of an evil Arkati (even the "Destroyer") does not give you the RP green flag to murder people, unfortunately.

GS PVP comes down to who strikes first.... if you can not understand its serious limitations, maybe you haven't played enough other games.

Yeah, I'm a bit new to GS. I've been playing DR and it's CvC is pretty epic very strategy intensive with balance and opponent stance and a host of other things. Dueling in DR is definetly a skill based affair.

I really like the combat system in Dragonrealms.
