Yesterday I get an email stating that the team lead for another site is leaving the company. Sweet I can't stand that asshole, he might have a good quality but I've never put up with him long enough to find it. I take this as good news but it's not, his leaving creates a hole that needs to be filled....

My boss, who is the greatest boss I've had in the civilian world is picked to go to the other site and take over. This pisses me, and the rest of the team off, because we are happy with the way things are currently run. We get shit on by the company we support, upper managment is bullshit, and we don't really ever get rewarded but what we have is a team lead that knows this and does his best to not only shield it but make it as easy to take as possible. He is of the theory that if you get your work done, everything is caught up and you have free time then you have free time. As long as we don't give him a reason to treat us like children he won't (He's former military as well and I like that he and I share the same leadership styles). Plus the man has been in our shoes, done what we do, and knows the issues that can come up so he is able to address them ahead of time and get things running smoothly.

Now, because asshat at the other site left we have to find a new team lead for our site which means there could be someone comming in that doesn't know shit from shinola and hasn't done what we do. I don't take orders very well from someone that's never done the job they manage it's just a huge pet peeve of mine. The plus side is the whole could be filled by myself as my resume is in and I'm scheduled for an interview for the position. I'd love to have the chance to lead again, I miss leading Marines but I guess civilians will have to do

So basically the situation is shitty I'd rather have my boss stay but if he has to go hopefully I'm given a chance to step up and carry the torch. Everyone knows that if I get selected things won't change much as, like I said earlier, he and I share the same leadership styles and pet peeves.

/end typing what I can't say here at work because the Project manager and other team lead are currently in the room.

Told my current, until Monday that is, team lead. That I was interested in the position. He said hell yeah and is going to give me a reccomendation for the position. I'm still pissed that he's not gonna be around mostly because he's part of the group I hang out with.

Good luck, Anticor. Little regime changes here and there at jobs can make life hell on everyone. I agree with you - the best person for the job is usually someone who's already within the company.

Let us know how it turns out!

That kind of situation's a good thing Anticor. Unless you want to stay at the level of the company you're at now forever, you need that kind of shakeup every once in a while to open up an opportunity. Buck hard for the job and if you don't get it, buck hard for the next one.

<---- Been there, done that, make a lot more money now.
