I know we're all always talking about how Gemstone is going downhill and the staff are nothing but a bunch of <insert one of the many negative things people have said here>.
But tonight, Gamehost Blatt actually made me think there may be hope.
Someone very close to me in RL plays the other half of a set of twins in Vaalor, some of you may know them. Part of their RP is certain matching items, and part of it is different items. But the other half spent all of Ebon's Gate searching for the perfect cloak. She finally found them, and they match. I stupidly withdrew 30000 silver instead of 3000 not realizing it when coming from Vaalor to Landing and was consequently too heavy to cross the tight rope, upon falling off, I was also too heavy to get up. I removed my cloak and set it on the ground, seeing that as my only choice to get up, and extremely stupidly forgot to grab it again. It was not registered.
Upon finally making it to Landing, I realized it was gone and was immediately very sad to find this out. I assisted, and Blatt came to my rescue, managing to find my cloak and return it to me.
I just want to say thanks to Blatt, and invite anyone to share any good GM or GH stories to give us some hope for the redemption of the game we all hate to admit that we love.
Thanks..

They're allowed to do that. You have a one time restore of an item lost to the janitor.
After that, you're boned. Now, if the GH did that outside of those parameters then you got lucky.

I did gets lucky. I had a one time only never gonna happen again so don't even ask last year....
Shhhh! Don't tell.
But seriously! Just so happy, had to tell someone, so why the hell not EVERYONE!

If you're not known to be a huge dick or a troublemaker in the game staff will usually do absolutely everything they can to ensure you're kept happy.

Well, and the person who plays the other twin is very far away from me, so the twins are the way we can still hang out together. She is one of my best friends, and also my family so naturally I miss her very much. That's why I was so seriously upset that I had lost that cloak.
Edit for typos...

Just saying.

I've done it before and I'll do it again, even if she isn't a GH anymore: GH Aristani was awesome.
Back a few years ago, during a evening when GS was having connection problems (big surprise there!), I had been helping my hunting partner heal down some wounds with herbs. I had given her my prized (altered) herb satchel so that I didn't have to keep handing her the herbs. Lo and behold, after GS crashed and came back up, the herb satchel was absolutely NO WHERE to be found, neither on me nor on my hunting partner.
Frantic, I put in for an assist and shortly thereafter, GH Aristani came by and (luckily) was able to get my herb satchel recreated (it was registered, thank the Gods). While I had to go and buy new herbs to fill it back up, the fact that I was able to get that satchel back has put many a good mark on the GS score sheet for me. (I also believe that it was a free restoral due to the satchel poofing in the crash, and not due to the janitor.)
So, even though I do like to bitch about Simu's seemingly lack of respect for the playerbase at times, over-all I can't complain about the customer service.
Once upon a time i had a 5x cold flaring krodera-hilted rolaren longsword (or something like that) that I accidently put in a mezic harness on the ground. At the time it cost me like a mil, which was ALL the money I had. Fuckers never told me about the one time replacement deal :(.
Does the item have to have been registered to you or have some proof it exists before they can 'one-time replace' it?
If not I'll see if they can replace my poison bow I lost in Shan.

Heh, wonder what that says about the fact that I made a request like that and the response was "no, we never ever do that sort of thing and we especially never do if it wasn't registered." Mine was lost because drag didn't work between the rooms that I was moving in (janitorial services were rendered immediately).
That being said, once I got an item that had mysteriously changed descriptions fixed by a GM. Might have been wonky for a couple years. I had actually gotten a show to elaborate on the description so they figured I probably wasn't trying to weasel "a Paradis weapon harness" back to "a weathered Paradis weapon harness." But boy, if I was that would have been the caper of a lifetime.

After I lost a backpack up in Fourwinds (it's still missing), a couple GMs, mainly Xynwen and Thandiwe, have done everything they can to help. Including recreating two of my items to lessen the sting a little. But yeah, I've never lost anything IG and this was the first time.. No thanks to StormFront.

That's because, like it often goes, it only takes one or two rotten apples to spoil the bunch. I've been pleased with 95% of the customer service GMs/merchants i've encountered.

Cause I hate CA. Lived there 18 years, that was way more than enough. She should move up here, she likes it here better, then we'd both win!

I actually like stories like these as well.
It goes to show that gaming, in a sense, can be a great form of keeping in touch with a loved one or close friend, regardless of distance.
One reason why alot of Military people/families play games together. It's a way of keeping in touch and being social, without having to physically be there.
Glad to hear they fixed your problem too

They're not all douches. I once lost/dropped a VHCW Imflass sword with my young rogue with unique look during an invasion. Took about an hour before they replaced it for me.

It's not missing. It was being marketed on the amunet by whoever found it several months ago. O and I questioned him about it, it's since disappeared into a locker, I'm sure. I can't remember his name off the top of my head, maybe O can tell you. The char selling the blade was too young to even hold it, if I recall correctly.

I finally got my pants altered into something far more suiting for Gnimble but I actually misspelled the description to the GM.
She didn't catch it and I'm retarded.
Within maybe 4 minutes of putting the assist in, all was resolved.

I lost my bluesmith perfect forged bonded altered handaxe to the bless/curse thing. I think it was Scribes who hooked me back up.
It was a ONE TIME ONLY, but goddamn was I happy I registered it.

A damn shame too, cause I was planning on stealing from you. ;)
My first alter was a pouch that the GM required me to buy from her wagon. It ended up holding 7 gems total. So, when a deepening merchant came around, I got it deepened. Then it held 9! So, I assisted and they were trying to explain how this wasn't unusual and all that and I was being my nice self just smiling and agreeing when suddenly the GM said hold on a minute and let them look at it a little longer. I don't know what they did to it or why, but it now holds like 30 gems. I wish I remember who did it. They basically just gave me something extra. Very nice!
