After arguing with a friend for 10 minutes, I come to find out that Kolaches are not as popular as I thought. Here in Texas it's a pretty common breakfast item, at least everywhere I've been.

I'm curious to know if any of you have ever had one or even heard of them. I was amazed at the lack of response on PsiNet... no one knows what they are.

Bun with fruit filling.

You guys are insane, I've never eaten them and I still know what they are.

What. The. Fuck.

I've never seen them with fruit. I've always had them with meat, cheese, and sometimes jalapenos.

You people are weird.

As far as I know, a kolache can be filled with whatever you want it filled with. I have not had one in years, but I remember liking them. :D

All of you need to visit Houston immediatly and gorge yourself with kolaches. I can't believe this.

If HarmNone didn't pipe in for you, I'd be calling you the weird one too. Your outnumbered anyway, Tayre.

Actually Kolaches are a polish pastry. Little buns or cookies with a fruit filling, very tasty. Tradition in Poland to have them at Christmas.

We had them for dinner tonight...beef and pepper and corn and beans and some spices of some sort inside a hollowed out roll with the top cut off.

Texas is strange and dumb, but kolaches are good.

Kolache Factory is coming to SA soon, so their website says. You should try them

I used to get them at the donut shops in Houston. Sausage with cheese.. mmmm..

They're really good.

Also, the little girl on the front page of kolachefactory.com has a mullet.

Let's all point and laugh.

I grew up mainly in TX and I didn't know what they were. Thinking back though... money was tight when I was growing up and we rarely ate out. They sound good though.

Sure have. I think they interchange the name of the drink in The Big Lebowski, actually.

They sound like brioches here in Italy. Very popular pastrie filled with almost anything.

I had never heard of them until this post... and that little mullet girl really IS scary. Kolaches sound pretty yummy, though.
