View Full Version : Does anyone know how exactly crit padding works?

I recently bought some 5x somewhat crit padded plate. My question is, how good is somewhat? can somewhat crit padding reduce a crit rank by 1?

Also, with damage padding it is fairly straight forward, somewhat takes off 5-6 damage, what does 5-6 signify with crit padding?

Thanks

Yes, it can reduce a crit rank by 1 (or more), but not below a rank 1 wound (rank 2 can be reduced to rank 1, but rank 1 cannot become a rank 0, for instance). 5-6 signifies the amount of damage deducted from the raw damage in the crit calculation, which has the effect of reducing the crit rank and the end result. It's different from damage padding because it occurs before crit damage is calculated.

Briarfox, thanks so much for answering my question.

I've heard that crit padding can also help with manuevers. It seems to help agianst implosion too, or am I Just seeing things? I was in a war camp and got imploded twice, and it didn't kill me either time.

It helps against maneuvers, but I'm not sure about implosion or other spell effects. Maybe someone else can chime in.
