Has implosion been downgraded against players, I swear I've been avoiding them more often now then ever.

As far as I know they haven't been downgraded in any way except for CvC. Players can't kill other players by using the open/close/open/close method. They have to be already stunned.

Wait explain, wouldn't open implosion almost always kill another player in one shot?

Open implosion causes 10 seconds of RT and the player being knocked prone unless they are already suffering a status ailment. The subsequent rounds may damage/kill you, but there is a delay between the initial opening of the void and the standard open implosion damage.

Open implosion will also kill the caster instantly in town.

So then what are the chances of getting killed by implosion in CvC? Like 0 because you just move out of the way?

That primarily depends upon how close you are in levels with the caster, and how much spell aiming the caster has. The more Spell Aiming the caster has, the more your levels over his are negated. If you're sufficiently ahead of the caster in levels, all that will happen is he will ruffle your hair.

That being said, there there is debris on the ground, the damage done can rise dramatically. A common tactic of sorcerers is to get a disk full of junk, dispel it, then cast focused implosion. If outside of town, they can cast OPEN implosion with debris, which will just about kill anyone.

Bottom line, unless you know you have 20 levels or so on the target, don't get Implosion cast at you.

P.S.

102 and 207 supposedly help protect against implosion damage. So does Void/Air resistant armor.

So if a sorc open implodes, there is a delay, can't I just see that the sorc just casted open implode and then walk away?

Further, wouldn't close implosion just kill me anyway instantly?

I want to say there is a flat 10 second hard RT to being in a room non-grouped with the sorcerer when open implosion is cast. I know it ALWAYS knocks you prone. It does not stun you, so no. Just them opening, closing, then opening another will not kill you.

So lets say a sorcerer casts open implosion (outside of town), you are put into 10 seconds hard RT and knocked prone. The sorcerer cannot cast a focused implosion, or another open implosion while the void is still open. So he either has to wait 3 seconds after his first cast, close the void, wait another three seconds, and focus implode you (which may or may not hit), or let the implosion cycle once and hope it stuns you longer than one round, dispel the void, and cast another open implosion which would kill you instantly.

I would have to play around with it to find out if the RT from open implosion is variable. Either way, Open implosion is rarely used in CvC, as most CvC takes place inside of town (IMO)
