Haven't had it happen with that guy, but have with others (Sraven comes to mind). Easy solution is to befriend (name) cold them and they won't be able to heal you.

I think you can befriend or set your demeanor to cold for all empaths. I don't remember how though. That way no one else can vulture you either.

I did that with my little ones and then I always forget and will be in TSC eating herbs and a dozen empaths try to vulture me. I don't mind getting healed and frankly that's what empaths are for, I just don't like getting vultured.

Whether another empath is about or not doesn't give her any right to vulture wounds, twice. It only takes a second to ask if someone needs healing and to top it off, she is capped so it isn't like she hasn't been around long enough to know etiquette.

In my opinion, and of course this is just an opinion, she is not "vulturing" you. I think of vulturing as one empath taking the wounds from another empath's corpse. Was there another empath there that you were currenting working with? Did she step up and heal you before they had a chance? That's what vulturing is to me.

I get a slight feeling that your trying to cause entrapment. Such as sitting there with wounds, knowing an empath is in the vacinity healing people, you got your finger on the "Dont heal me bitch" macro, just waiting for her to heal you.

Have you thought about saying, healing isn't needed before the unwanted healing occurs? This almost reminds be about this one rogue I used to have problems with. They would hide behind a critter and not attack until I finally came into the room. They would then start attacking the critter and say "Stop poaching!".

Most people do want healing, therefor, I assume healing is wanted as opposed to not wanted. I would hate for this to happen...

As far as entrapment goes I had been on the Dais less than a minute and had just sat down. I wouldn't think it would be necessary to say 'Please don't heal me.' every time I walk onto the Dais. I would think however it would be necessary to ask before I touched another player for any reason. I am usually the last one to cause a problem with another player and let this go the first time it happened. I let it go this time as well. I was just asking if anyone else had experienced the same thing. I'll crawl back into my hole now.:puzzled:

Is it acknowledging that you're going to heal the patient you dislike, or the actual NOD verb? If you feel like a bobblehead, you could always turn to face the patient or smile at them. I do that sometimes when I'm sick of nodding, and it works just as well.

My first character was an empath for quite awhile, and I have one now as well. When I heal in public, I don't get yelled at like that. Maybe it's you? I heal fast when asked, or I will ask someone if they need healing should I notice they have wounds. And not once that I can remember have I been bitched at for what you stated... so yeah, it must be you.

When i'm on my other characters, I don't want someone to jump all on them slobbering for my wounds. I want to be asked, or I want to ask first. But I keep my demeanor set so I can't be vultured and therefore don't have to worry about little twats who start grabbing all over me without permission. ;)

I can see the argument being the same for empaths just healing you without asking. I also think the definition of a vulture is different for some people. Walking into a room and getting healed without asking, I wouldn't call that a vulture. Empath fogs in a deader and another empath heals without asking, that's a vulture.

I agree with you. I am just saying it's simple courtesy to ask first before you heal someone. Generally when someone is in dire need of healing, they ask for it quickly. I mean at the very least, how long does it take to type or macro, "Healing?" to someone?

What's it matter? What makes you fucking think I want you to heal me? What makes you think I don't plan on using those wounds for RP, or for a friend empath, or whatever. Just because i'm hurt and standing in the same room as you doesn't mean you have the right to touch my fucking character. And I don't get my kicks out of jumping on empaths. I do however think when an empath steals someone's wounds without asking, they have every right to rip that empath a new asshole. Ugh, I had to make a silly account on this thing when someone pointed out there was a discussion about Reshil.

Reshil has been a healer for a LONG time, yes, she's capped, she doesn't really learn much from healing, and if you haven't noticed, she does not sit at dais to heal. Even back in the days of the landing, Resh would randomly heal people. Why? Because Resh is a hunting empath. She is, and always will be, wanting to go kill stuff and find and open boxes. Anyone who knows Resh knows she loves boxes and hunting.

I've found that empaths are not always common in Illi, and because Resh only goes through the dais between hunts or traveling somewhere to get her task assignment, she tends to check to see if any healers are there, and if not, if anyone is injured that might've been looking for a healer. My time in game is very limited, and Resh is always impatient to go back to killing, so while she gladly heals, she does it and runs away so she can be about her business with as little interruption as possible. This means, avoiding asking and waiting to see if people notice, or if they're awake to notice. This beats feeling bad later when 2 minutes after she made it to her hunting grounds someone chats to her for a heal.

MOST people appreciate this, and that's the reason she does it. 80% of the time, she's saturated, and doesn't learn anything from it, and has to sit around healing the scars afterwards. For RP purposes, Resh keeps to herself, she used to be more outgoing and social, but she's come across a lot of nasty jerks and so is much more reserved now. She will wink and start interacting with people after she's known them and built positive rappore with.

You don't like it, befriend her cold, or ask her not to heal you, and she won't, ever again, even if you're dying, dead or begging. She won't bother rescuing you or doing anything else if you're that petty and whiny. If you wanna say, thanks, but no worries for next time, I like my wounds, she'll be happy to remember that, and only heal the specific times you ask.

But maybe try saying something before you whine about it...sheesh

I've never had a problem with Reshil or Onrub's character.

In my experience it's mainly the people that whine about the issue at hand that cause problems. If I get healed with any of my characters and sure I have a pocket path, I don't sit there and whine about it, I either thank them or walk away. Problems solved, if I HAD a problem with it I'd FIX the situation instead of causing more of one.

Only empath I ever had problems with was Tayre, he was a vulture, so I set demeanor's cold towards him and the problem was solved.

The problem is that everyone makes empaths tip toe through the tulips, making most capped empaths not wanting to heal anyone they don't know anymore, IMO.

Again in my experience there are two types of people in this world, people who talk about doing/fixing stuff and then there are those who actually DO IT!

You (general you) can say how easy it is to Set DEMEANOR Empath Cold as much as you want. It's just as easy to ask if someone wants healing instead of doing something to another character without asking.

Since I'm not in the habit of LOOKing at people all the time, I don't know who is hurt until they ask for healing. I don't ask anyone if they want healing unless they roleplay with me that they're hurt. Sure I want to learn but it's not like there aren't plenty of people that need help.

I nod and smile first. Plenty of times another empath has cleared them before I even start, and I don't really care nor mind. Eh, there will be another soon enough who needs healing. I spent the first 30 levels of my empath's life competing with empaths for healing, I'm not doing it anymore.

Other empaths bother me more than anyone else.

It's the rude behaviour of Reshil and Onrub that give empaths a bad reputation for vulturing. I don't care if you don't nod to a patient before healing. Just because I do, doesn't mean that's everyone's thing. I've found most non nodders won't touch a patient if they are nodded to. Common courtesy is a lovely thing.

Grabbing someone's wounds without asking is being a VULTURE (unleash the CAPS). You can't assume to know the reason for those wounds. Perhaps they prefer herbs. Perhaps yours is a race they don't wish to associate with. Perhaps they are roleplaying a long slow death just for kicks. You're being overbearing with your own opinion that everyone will just LOVE you for your help then get all snippity when someone points out your rudeness.

I could go on all day. It's one of my favorite pet peevs about empaths (I play an empath). I realize I might as well be talking to a brick though. They could never wrap their brains around the fact that not everyone wants you to jump on them with their special healing touch.

Please read more carefully

1. Reshil is normally saturated 90% of the time she passes through the dais, which is the only place she stops to check if anyone needs healing before she passes on.

2. Reshil has a lot of "regulars" she heals quickly before running off. Since a lot of people sleep, she'd spend a lot of time waiting around for people who probably won't answer, but since empaths are hard to come by in Illy, will be bummed they missed her. Since my time in game is limited, I try not to sit for 5 minutes waiting for a reply, but I'd still like for Resh to be helpful

3. If a player doesn't like it, they can tell Resh and she never will again.

4. It's Resh's style, She's a prodimently hunting empath, when she heals, she tries to get it over with asap, she's impatient to hunt again. healing takes up her time and mana to heal down and regain. Resh however, is not one of those crabby empath who refuses to heal people just because she is hunting, but she doesn't spend 5 minutes speaking and playing around to get to it.

5. Resh does not heal people without inquiring if there are other awake empaths in the room, only at times when there are none about and people may be stuck with wounds if she runs off without helping first.

6. Most people say thank you, once every 6 months I might get someone who would rather not have been healed, I make a note, and ignore them and their wounds forever if they were rude about it, and if they're polite about it, will heal them only upon their request in the future.

7. Don't like it, fix your settings, that's why they were created. But seriously, why must people always fine something to whine about it. Is it truly that you're not getting enough of what you see as RP from the people around you, or are you just taking offense because empaths learn something from it(normally not so much as most wounds are minors that she finds)? Each person RP's differently, and like I said, Resh's personality is that she's very guarded of those who are not her close friends, she keeps to herself most often.

So either be glad there are a few people in a town always looking for healers that try to help out, or fix it so it doesn't effect you, but honestly, STOP whining about it. I work at an elementry school all day and hear whining from 5-10 year olds, do I really need to hear it from grown adults about nonsense stuff?

I think a lot of things people do IG are rude, but there really isn't an issue now because of the demeanor Empath setting. Set one flag and no empath will ever vulture you again. It is even better than that flimsy excuse pickpockets make when they say, "Just go to the bank every 2 seconds and compulsively keep every container closed at all times.". Demeanor settings are set once, and you're permanently done.

As for the whining remark, it's not whining. It's telling you that your doing something someone doesn't like. You are the one acting like a child saying you'll do whatever you please until corrected. I don't care if you hunt mostly. Good for you. I still find healing someone without asking them is rude. If it's someone you know, great. This person didn't know you, therefore, rude.

As for healing, again, it's easy to make it so you can't be healed, this is only a problem for one person about every 6 months.

Whining is complaining to others about something you don't like instead of addressing it directly with the person. I'm not whining, or complaining, just explaining how Resh RPs and what those who don't like it can do about it.

They should allow empaths to heal wounds from invisibility. All of a sudden your wounds would disappear and you wouldn't know why. What you would know, though, is that you're fucking angry about it and someone is going to pay.

I don't have a problem with what Ismurii does. I've got my own system for it. She's never vultured my wounds. She's only ever healed me after I've asked for it. However, she does do it at the speed of light after you ask, not really even giving anyone else the chance to nod, so I instituted a policy of "I don't have a problem with what she does, but if another empath nods at me during her healing or near it, they get the tip."

From the limited time I've spent with her in TSC healing myself, she also doesn't do that to every single person that comes in asking for healing. She'll do her thing, then give the other empaths there a chance, then do her thing again. If she was doing it every single person I'd befriend cold her of course, but even though she doesn't follow the proper empath protocol by nodding, she isn't really taking advantage of it from what I've seen.

And all you can probably do is ask, "Does anyone need healing before I head out?" and let people ask you. You're obviously not just asking if someone says that twice you healed them without being asked. It's apparent that they weren't in need.

So if you don't need to heal to learn, and you do it sparingly so as not to interrupt your time hunting, why offer at all? And leaving your hunt to go heal people is fucking insane, IMO. You're like all over the place with your standards... more like you don't have any.

When Sharnath sighed and open his pouch to tip Reshil that was going to be the prelude to what I had hoped would be an RP conclusion to this issue. Reshil left before I was able to initiate this interaction. I have no inclination to chase after someone into OTF, or wherever they may be hunting as a capped character, to RP this situation out. My question was asked on this board to help me understand what was happening. I have been playing for 10+ years and there are many things I still miss. If someone had said, 'Reshil does that for everyone on the Dais.' I would have been fine with that answer and would have tried to work around that. My post was not a personal attack on Reshil, though it may have been taken as such. Anyone who knows Sharnath, albeit there are very few, know he will go out of his way to help others and avoid conflict. That my post was taken as whining is unfortunate, maybe my communication skills need some work.

This thread is pretty amusing.:rofl: I'm going to throw my opinion into the mix without any bias since I'm a cleric and don't really care to much about healers or how they do things. With that said, I think a lot of people here are getting In-Character actions and Out of Character actions mixed up. For instance, there is a common ettiquette and standards that have been expected of healers, but they don't have to be followed.

I can be a bitch at times ICly, does that mean I'm one OOCly? Definitely not. I can be at times though if you piss me off hehe. Some people have a particular roleplay style and they don't care what people think of them. The purpose of GS is not to play a bunch of courteous and honorable people. Each person develops a history, personality, etc. Their actions determine if they are loved or hated. If an empath wants to "vulture" that's up to them. Like any real life action, there's a reaction in game. That reaction can be anything from setting your demeanor to cold for that person to removing their leg ICly. I'm going to react appropriately if someone does something to piss me off.

As far as vulturing, Emeriana wouldn't like it if a healer healed without asking. What would she do about it? She'd shake her head and mutter something about silly healers before leaving without tipping. That's a mild reaction. I know there's a lot of frustration and the such in this thread based on this issue. If you don't like an action in-game, then respond to it in-game. If they piss you off that bad, then hunt them down and do something about it. I'm sure the GMs and GameHosts won't have a problem with you killing someone ICly, especially if you have a solid RP reason as to why it offends you.

That's just my two cents on the matter. ^_^ Now, remember hug, tip, or kill an empath. :love:

Amy and Cristina are two different people, with two different voices, and two different styles. I've been listening to Evanescence and Lacuna Coil since their old 90's music, and I've been a fan of both. Please read more carefully

1. Reshil is normally saturated 90% of the time she passes through the dais, which is the only place she stops to check if anyone needs healing before she passes on.

2. Reshil has a lot of "regulars" she heals quickly before running off. Since a lot of people sleep, she'd spend a lot of time waiting around for people who probably won't answer, but since empaths are hard to come by in Illy, will be bummed they missed her. Since my time in game is limited, I try not to sit for 5 minutes waiting for a reply, but I'd still like for Resh to be helpful

3. If a player doesn't like it, they can tell Resh and she never will again.

4. It's Resh's style, She's a prodimently hunting empath, when she heals, she tries to get it over with asap, she's impatient to hunt again. healing takes up her time and mana to heal down and regain. Resh however, is not one of those crabby empath who refuses to heal people just because she is hunting, but she doesn't spend 5 minutes speaking and playing around to get to it.

5. Resh does not heal people without inquiring if there are other awake empaths in the room, only at times when there are none about and people may be stuck with wounds if she runs off without helping first.

6. Most people say thank you, once every 6 months I might get someone who would rather not have been healed, I make a note, and ignore them and their wounds forever if they were rude about it, and if they're polite about it, will heal them only upon their request in the future.

7. Don't like it, fix your settings, that's why they were created. But seriously, why must people always fine something to whine about it. Is it truly that you're not getting enough of what you see as RP from the people around you, or are you just taking offense because empaths learn something from it(normally not so much as most wounds are minors that she finds)? Each person RP's differently, and like I said, Resh's personality is that she's very guarded of those who are not her close friends, she keeps to herself most often.

So either be glad there are a few people in a town always looking for healers that try to help out, or fix it so it doesn't effect you, but honestly, STOP whining about it. I work at an elementry school all day and hear whining from 5-10 year olds, do I really need to hear it from grown adults about nonsense stuff?

I guess it all depends on the character you are playing. My warrior, for example, is incredibly prone to getting injured do to his wanting to hone his skills by soloing grimswarm warcamps. He doesn't mind at all when empaths "vulture him" Another character I have though would probably detest the same treatment.
