I recently took a friend to NYC for the first time in her life and we landed in Newark because it was cheaper. As soon as we got off the plane, she asked, "What's that smell?!" She didn't understand when I laughed and said, "Jersey." Ah, it brought back memories of when I lived in Hoboken and Parsippany, although the latter was less smelly. XD

Ahem. Anyway. I live in Denver, CO at the moment. For the moment. Looking to change that.

Sean comment on how you're mistaken, that's actually Staten Island that smells and not NJ, incoming in 5...4....3....

It's hard to confuse Newark Airport with Staten Island. I've never defended Elizabeth, NJ.

You defended NJ, all of NJ, just NJ. As far as I know, Elizabeth is in NJ. :D

In fact I think the converesation went something like this...

Me: NJ smells like ass.
Sean: No it doesn't you're thinking of Staten Island
Me: Uh, no.

No one defends all of NJ. You're either pro North NJ or South NJ the state has it's own Mason Dixon line. Or theres the third option where you make up a Central NJ but that really just means you from South Jersey and don't want to admit it.

No. I love NYC. Luuuuuv it. I love the way the subway is moist and sweaty even if it's below freezing above ground. I love dodging sewer grates to try to avoid the smell of the steam coming up. I love the public transportation. I love how you can be surrounded by people and yet be completely alone because (almost) everyone understands the need to not get on each others' nerves when they live on top of each other. I love how couples can be going out for a decade or more and yet each person still has their own apartment. I love blowing my nose after a day in NYC and having it come out black. Same with cleaning my ears.

Mmmm. New York City.

I've spent many days in NYC and never had my nose or ears have black shit in them. Are you sure you weren't actually sweeping a chimney?

DCSL
02-03-2009, 12:05 AM
Okay, not completely black and only if I were hanging out in touristy areas like Times Square, which I used to do a lot because they had two arcades I hung out in around there. Keep in mind, this was um.. like a decade ago.

The smell of the chemical plants near Newark make me feel like the back of my brain is melting...

And I think Dex just summed up in a nutshell my dislike of NY. Oh, and there was that one time a pigeon almost crapped on me. It wasn't normal crap though, someone fed that little winged rat a fucking White Castle dozen or something because it was HUGE and NASTY and multicolored. Like it ate crayons too. And a laxitive.

DCSL

The pigeons in NYC are awesome, you mean. I often picture them engaging in Highlander-esque battles for supremacy, given their near immortal nature. An immortal almost crapped on you, man.

That's not a NY pigeon, it must've been a visiting CT or NJ pigeon. If it was a NY pigeon it wouldn't have missed.

Are you sure you weren't up on the corner of 77th and Lexington? What you described is very similar to the fondue served at the coffee shop there.
