I decided to make a CD tonight to put into sound how I've been feeling the last few weeks. Does anyone else try to put their life to music? I'm constantly doing it, all day every day. Anyway, feel free to share some songs or whatever to how you feel. In no particular order:

Hey Man, Nice Shot - Filter
Say Hello To Heaven - Temple of the Dog
Black Hole Sun - Soundgarden
Sober - Tool
Bad Day - Fuel
Bad Religion - Godsmack
Wait & Bleed - Slipknot
Killing In The Name Of - Rage Against The Machine
Two Princes - Spin Doctors
No Rain - Blind Melon
Fall To Pieces - Velvet Revolver
Jane Says - Jane's Addiction
Empty Walls - Serj Tankian
Beautiful People - Marilyn Manson
Cumbersome - Seven Mary Three

I don't do this anymore, I use to when I was a lot younger. However, you have great taste in music.

Your reading comprehension sucks.

no you listed a bunch of songs that you consider some sort of soundtrack to your life, and you pick all the singles released that got heavy play on alt stations. You didn't listen to the albums.

Because there was another song on Something Like Human that would more describe the way I was feeling the other day than Bad Day, right?

I can't stand fucking music snobs.

Some people don't realize that the reason some songs are well known is because they are good, go figure. I don't know the producer of the White Album, but I know I like it. ZOMG, I must listen to the radio, I'm such a douche!

The Ponzzz

It's not like he picked a bunch of pop and hip hop garbage. Half those songs are some of the all time best from that artist.

Why am I not surprised.

Anyway, I haven’t made a mix tape since I was 12. But, props, RC. Good choices. I have a few of those CDs and enjoy the hell out of them.

Last summer Lenny Kravitz - Love Revolution, the Black Crowes - Warpaint and Beck - Modern Guilt were my soundtracks at the time. I’ve got nothing right now.

Well, maybe some Gotan Project.

Anyway, I am in a bitch of a mood, so i'm going to pick a fight by making snarky, pointless comments that are oh-so-typical of me. I apologize if you aren't yet used to the flabby roast beef vagina that is my mouth, i'll try to prepare you first next time.

Fixed for truth.

This attitude reminds of the kids in HS that would listen to a band until they got airplay, then claim they had sold out and that 'I used to listen to them when they were cool.'

Oddly, I liked RC's list specifically because it reminded me of masturbating to German circus-monkey porn while I listened to the local rock station in the mid 90s.

so you still listen to new metallica?

for real though, I saw the list and I have almost every single one of those albums and/or have seen them in concert, and they're great, and people should expose themselves to more songs than what's (over)played, but those are the songs that he thought of first when creating some musical emotional mix. Oh well.

Lately, Strung Out, Twisted By Design mainly

Too Close to See
Deville
Reason to Believe
Ultimate Devotion
Asking for the World
Tattoo
Matchbook

Bring Out Your Dead, Firecracker, and A War Called Home, which aren't on that cd, but what the hell.

I had to go listen to Fall To Pieces, one of the best ballads in awhile IMO. Good pick. Also, I never knew who did Cumbersome, so this is good news.

I made this list back in 2003, it was one of those passed around things- "tag your friends and have them do it". I went back to find it, it's "If your life was a movie soundtrack":

opening credits: Allman Brothers Band - Ramblin Man
waking up: U2 - Sunday Bloody Sunday
average day: Atmosphere - My Songs
first date: Whiskeytown - Midway Park
falling in love: Evan And Jaron - Crazy For This Girl
sex scene: Al Green - Turn Off The Lights
fight scene: Iron Maiden - The Trooper
breakup scene: Nico - Fairest Of The Seasons
get back together scene: David Gray - Please Forgive Me
secret sex scene: INOJ - Time After Time
life's okay scene: Jimmy Eat World - For Me This Is Heaven
mental breakdown scene: RJD2 - Smoke & Mirrors
driving scene: Third Eye Blind - Motorcycle Drive By
lesson learning scene: Fleetwood Mac - Go Your Own Way
deep thought scene: Jackson Browne - Rock Me On The Water
flashback scene: Robert Tepper - No Easy Way Out
party scene: ying yang twins - say i yi yi
happy dance scene: Latryx - Lady Don't Tek No
regret scene: Gary Jules - Mad World
long night alone scene: Dashboard Confessional - Again I Go Unnoticed
death scene: Goo Goo Dolls - Acoustic #3
closing credits: Lynyrd Skynyrd - Freebird

Most of it stands up pretty well, some classics on there, let's just pretend the Evan and Jaron thing was never put pen to paper. I might redo it to see how much I would change it 6 years on. Anyone else feel free to have at it.

As to the OP.
Your making CD's of specific music reminds me of the tapes (yes, I'm showing my age here) my highschool girlfriend used to make me.

With regards to music:
Music is an integral part of my everyday life. My mood dictates the genre I listen to at that time, but I only go so far as to either pulling out a specific playlist or album group on the Ipod or tuning into a specific radio station. Making up a CD would be a waste of a good CD simply because not every mood I have would be exactly the same to merit playing that same CD over and over again. Mostly, music reminds me of past events, which is why shuffle play works so well. Its like a barrage of the good times down memory lane.

Ipod/play all/shuffle FTW.
