I could have sworn, and I bet I posted it here, Naos speaking on nerfing Cone in some way.

I still don't understand how that spell is still player friendly.

I will look for the info later. Gotta actually do work.

Should be way increased mana for more targets. That shit is B-A-N-A-N-A-S.

Also, a level 30 Wizard attuned to fire wiping out major glacei as well as a level 40 wizard attuned to water asploding fire mages = no. Wizards, when you want to talk about overhunting by more trains than 15, isn't even marveled by Sorcerers in some instances.

For every maneuver complaint from pures like you could put up CoS while imploding, heal for experience and boneshatter, or just plain find a way more vast majority of NPCs; BCS included, that will get hit harder than a claidhmore to the face by ... Magic, is why I think the best way to make squares on par with semis and pures would be to make 50% of all existing hunting grounds anti-magic. Jesus.

Getting rid of PC friendliness to cone, and calling that a nerf, would be like trying to convince me that I've been banned for non-consensual CvC for the one time I almost hit someone using 1630, but that fortunately their escort script was working fast enough for them to AFK out of the room.

I'd disagree with you except we have fixskills that allow you to change your training annually, more if you AG it. Locking into a specialty is OK in my book, especially since it's very few areas where that specialty works in your benefit. Being able to change your skill every year is BS though.

And by attune I'm also assuming you mean just loading up in lores. Attuning, other than allowing you to select your major ewave and some neat emotes, doesn't do diddly mechanically (that I'm aware of). I could be wrong :)

I vaguely remember something similar

I don't understand why everything has to be nerfed. If someone is upset that a wizard spell is so powerful then why don't they just play a wizard?

Because that's the unfortunate mindset that plagues this game. Too many would rather cry about other professions, spells, manuevers, etc., instead of trying to push for improvements in their own.

The way he phrased the statement, he says he isn't aware of any current changes to cone. Not that he isn't considering one for the future.

Maybe he didn't get the email about taking down the webserver.

If I recall, he said a while ago that he looked at the ancient source code for the spell, and that "it wasn't working as originally intended". Maybe I'll dig out the post later, or someone else can!

He said that in the future (at some point), he'd be reviewing the spell.

So it's probably an inevitable nerf of some kind, but they'll likely placate us with a way to train off any changes via EMC or something.

Honestly, casting Cone just isn't worth it anymore. In an invasion, it gets reflected. In most near/post-cap hunting grounds, you get shocked. Ball spells are much more desirable, for any number of reasons.

Outside of 3 rooms, it owns in OTF.

Jesus Christ what's with all the nerf threads lately?

Gemstone is fine, L2P.

Agreed. Less tedium more fun = GS scripting while playing WoW.

Hmm...if this is true then they shall be nerfing ball spells soon.

For the love of all that is holy, can people stop QQing? Gemstone, like ANY MOTHERFUCKING GAME EVER MADE, isn't perfect. Deal with it.

Except in other games, people don't ask for nerfs unless the topic is arcane mages and the posters are frost mages.

I haven't played in a year or so, how does cone work in camps? I know most invasion critters have reflect now. How about war camps? I'm guessing the GMs made sure a mage can't just run through a camp coning the hell out of things.

Only reason I'm asking is because I'm thinking about bringing my mage and rogue back, drop COL, and try Sunfist. Just for the hell of it.

Mass Spells cause a buildup of energy in a single room that after a certain charge, will backlash at you. You either have to be sparing with mass spells, or move around a lot in the warcamp.

Honestly though, no real reason to cone. Rapidfire ball spells or even regular attack spells pretty much rapes Grimswarm. Specially trolls...god is that funny.
