I know not all bards are performers(I think they should at least be somewhat inclined)..but that leads to my question.

So,

Who is your favourite bard performer or your favourite performance? I'm talking the best song, story, etc...you have seen in the game.

It doesn't have to be a famous person--just someone you've enjoyed.

If you have examples, it would be even better!

-A:bouncy:

P.S. Keep it positive guys, I really would like to see a nice thread.;)

The absolute best performer I have ever seen is Lyricaen, who ended up marrying Adhara's sister Aramina.

His songs are pure delight and I will post one here for your enjoyment. I wish I had it on log because you would have his reactions and actions between the verses. I only have the lyrics per se. But here goes, this is one called the Unfortunate Wizzie.

There once was a Wizard who searched far and wide
For a Genuine "Lady" to stand by his side.
At last he found one that quite fit the bill
And he courted and married a girl from the Lyserian Hills.

At the wedding the wizzie made one big mistake,
'Twas not in omitting the wine, nor the cake.
The ring was well chosen, and no one was bored.....
But he didn't ask what she meant by "Dance of the Sword!"

That night in their chambers the lady arose,
And began to prepare to retire in repose.
The husband sat near her, admiring the charms,
That gave him such pleasure to hold in his arms.

She doffed off her surcoat of white, to reveal,
A belt that was lit'rally dripping with steel!
And the rose in his cheek quickly grew very faint:
When he saw they were live blades, an not wood-and-paint!

She went to the mirror to take off her belt
And saw in reflection how her husband felt.
Said she "don't be frightened or shiver in dread...
For I'll only wear two when we get into bed!"

She took twenty more from her boots and her hair
Then proceeded to doff a gown so fair,
And her trembling husband got quite a surprise
For beneath it she wore chain-mail made to her size!

Now for all you Wizards who would marry for life,
Be sure you examine your Warrior Wife.
Don't be like the turkey who trusted his eyes
And a little bit later got quite a surprise!

You can read more of his songs here:

Is Aramina still around? I haven't seen her in like a year

Yep, she's still around. She's on the mentor council with me, so I see her all the time!

Yeah she's not much on anymore. Mostly only for mentor duty. But believe it's not lack of interest she's just very busy with the kids.

I haven't seen too many bards put on a show but I've heard a few songs from Antinymous that I thought were pretty good.

It seems I love posting on old threads, but hey:

Ylena is my favorite performer. I loved her at Bardfest, and she inspired me to push the envelope and get out there and perform. I was hoping to compete with her at Turnleaf, just to see her compete and listen to her songs. Ashtelnan is also a favorite of mine, ask him to do Wilbur the Lusty Roltan, its hilarious.

Ylena's Box Song could always get me laughing aloud. I also enjoyed anything Dreamweaver ever did. I would drop whatever I was doing just for the opportunity to hear her. :)

My personal favorite, one that touched me, was the song staceyrain sang for Trylia's wedding. Yes, I play Trylia too.

Staceyrain says, "This song is called, "Hold and Belong."."
(Staceyrain opens her eyes and smiles with joy, as she plays an expansive run of notes.)
Staceyrain sings:

"May the love you’re sharing spread its wings and fly across the lands
And bring new joy to every soul who is alive
May the blessings of your grace my loves, shine on everyone
And may we all see the light within,
within,
within..."

(Staceyrain stands quickly, her hair bouncing off of her shoulders as she dances among all who are gathered.)
(Staceyrain plays her lute louder than before, her eyes open with the shine of ecstasy from her soul.)
Staceyrain sings:

"Today is a day for Love
Oh my beloved couple
Say to each other in your hearts
Say to each other true"

Staceyrain sings:

"Hold on to me
and I belong to you..."

(Staceyrain turns on her feet quickly at the back of the crowd, dancing back to forefront and by the altar.)
(Staceyrain strums her lute with an energetic air, smiling as her voice rises.)
Staceyrain sings:

"This day be one to remember by all who are here
A day of celebration and magick powered by love
May the Arkati bless us all as one for your grace
As they smile down from their moon above!"

(Staceyrain plays her lute, fingers steadfast and strong as her chords ring clear.)
(Staceyrain sashays and prances around Ryaun and Trylia, giving each a smooch on the cheek.)
Staceyrain sings:

"Today is a day for Love
Oh my beloved couple
Say to each other in your hearts
Say to each other true"

Staceyrain sings:

"Hold on to me
and I belong to you..."

(Staceyrain spins a little dance to the front of Darkor.)
Staceyrain giggles.
(Staceyrain plays her verse strongly, her eyes locked on Trylia and Ryaun.)
Staceyrain sings:

"So when I look upon this couple most dear
And see all their friends from far and near
I get to see the faces you think most fair
And I know how your love is shared"

(Staceyrain steps lightly to the front of the gathering.)
(Staceyrain looks around in bemusement, her chords slipping to sevenths and gaining a curious change.)
Staceyrain sings:

"Now I am surrounded by those stars
And I gaze in wonder at this light from so far
Blessed by Liabo you both shall be from now on
And best I can, I bless you with my songs"

(Staceyrain quickly strums the clear chords of the chorus, her voice flowing out with strength as she smiles.)
Staceyrain sings:

"Today is a day for Love
Oh my beloved couple
Say to each other in your hearts
Say to each other true"

Staceyrain sings:

"Hold on to me
and I belong to you..."

(Staceyrain plays an intricate run of scales, her voice rising and falling to the notes with each word.)
Staceyrain sings:

"May the love you’re sharing spread its wings and fly across the lands
And bring new joy to every soul who is alive
May the blessings of your grace my loves, shine on everyone
And may we all see the light within,
within,
within..."

(Staceyrain allows the final notes from her lute to fade with her voice, leaving a solemn silence as she quietly hugs Trylia and Ryaun.)

Ylena, Bevan , Tanager and Tolwynn are some of my favorites..

I also enjoy Jacinto and Antimonyous....

Rinkia has performed some neat stuff too.

Rimalon could knock me over with his bobo the Squirrel stories and puppetry..... sighs... missing him.

Also Yukito comes to mind... He writes some very nice stuff and finds interesting ways to perform as a mute..

My bardess can't wait to perform in this year's bardfest and hear the greats again.

No, Bevan is a moron. Sings song of peace and can't handle the consquences when it pisses someone off.

Another side note is Bevan's player is a moron who should keep his worthless opinoins to himself.

And what the fuck does that have to do with performance? ExCUUUSE me, shit for brains, check out the topic here. If I gave a damn about the player's opinion on things, I'd talk on the regular forums.

Thought this was about performence....

Bevan has had some great ones and is very helpful with performence help in the GS world....

His opinions do not mean a thing when talking about performence.

just to clarify.

Years ago there was a Bard in Icemule that was a belly dancer. Her name was Nahalaluna.

She performed her dances quite well, and even helped others to dance. My favorite one of hers was where she taught a lumbering, clumsy warrior how to dance. She kept that part of the character in the routine. He stumbled about, stepped on everyones toes, and ended up falling into the next room after dropping his sword.

She was great.

Talinvor. He put on an awesome performance at the bardfest one year and didn't even place. No shocker there, but it was still one hell of a routine.

Two of Tal's published works:

The Star of Sharath
Her dark eyes once met my grey
Each followers of the Sacred Way
Together we were, like night and day
My light of Sharath

When once we lived and once we fought
All of this mattered naught
Battles won and battles sought
My heart of Sharath

For in time, she was my Muse
And my life I had to choose
For my pride or love to lose
My jewel of Sharath

Far beyond the shadow's gloom
Within the Great Mountain lies her tomb
And in me, she found her doom
My star of Sharath

And thus I am with heartbreak
The tale of which my soul doth ache
And time itself can only take
My memory of Sharath

----

Ode to a Slave
Encircled upon a graceful neck
For my pleasure I did bedeck
Upon a slender silver chain
By my will, I did detain
She never thinks to betray
For I am predator, and she - prey

How easily she was to ensnare
Sliding fingers through her golden hair
As I gazed into her eyes
I knew I had claimed her as my prize
For she, a simple delicate flower
Had never understood the touch of power

Ahmeuseng did a nice job.

11th Annual House of Argent Aspis Bardfest

The age of Elven power, long ago
When Elves ruled even more than they could see,
Brought cultural expansion, greater wealth,
While humans bore the curse of tyranny.

One Aramur, a wizard, learned from elves,
And lived within Illistim walls until
He saw, firsthand, the treatment of his kind.
Yet power-hungry elves would guide him still.

As human slaves, mistreated, took up arms.
An Elven prince would die. Of course, that’s true.
But wasn’t human plan that killed the prince.
Was Elven greed that turned the deadly screw.

Black Wolves have been most kind to me.
Guess Primum said they had to be.
Up on Frith's roof
They're not aloof.

But I can't join the clan!
The Black Wolves, starved and weakened, heard the news
Of silver headed through an outpost east.
Manipulation, lies, the Elven keys
That unlocked human hope, a chance at least.

Why can't I join the Black Wolves' Clan
To work beside that grand ol' man?
Exclusion's bad An makes me sad.

But I'm glad I'm an elf.
They forewarned women, children, left behind
To pray to Kai and ask Lorminstra’s care.
With battle plan devised they traveled east
To seize and camp the Elven outpost there.

The treasure caravan would pass that way.
A swift attack, take out the guards! That done
They’d steal the silvers. Few lives should be lost.
Just one small battle ‘gainst the Elves thus won.

The Wolves won't let me join the clan.
I've not some sly, subversive plan
To undermine
Their work so fine.

They just say Ahmie, no!
They found no silver, rather Vaalor prince,
First heir to elven throne. Shaft pierced his side,
And through the royal crest seeped bloody tints.
These were their first signs that the Elves had lied.

The wizard leader took the wounded child
Up in his arms and fled west. Even then
He knew his magic, lesser than the elves,
Was not enough save the Black Wolves’ Den.

He'll sit beside me while we drink.
He tells me silly jokes. I'd think
He'd want me there.
But he'll declare

That I can't join the clan.

The tiny prince would die, this Aramur knew.
He knew, as well, the Black Wolves’ end was near.
As Black Wolves weakened, Elven forces grew
And stormed the Den, confirming Aramur’s fear.

It's not like I need stuff to do.
I'm fairly busy, that's quite true.
Their principle, Political.
So I can't join the clan.

I took a walk with Primum through the Den
An’ smelled the blood, saw visions, heard the moans.
I closed my eyes, forbad my ears to hear
The cacophonic elegy of bones.

In one sparse room, two skeletons entwined,
Two empty vials gave hint to chosen fate.
The nursery with cribs and painted stars.
What horror Elven greed did motivate.

I still can't join the Black Wolves' Clan.
The rules are strict an' I've no plan,
To plot, disguise, Or otherwise
Finagle my way in.

Such painful signs remain near Darkstone Bay.
The seal of red and black still marks the spot
Where women, men and children lost their lives,
And wailing voices tell what tales cannot.
