Emptying one container into another just didn't seem to work for some reason.

>l in my lon
In the umber brocade longcoat you see a badly damaged maoral chest and a simple wooden coffer.
>l in backp
There is nothing in there.
>empt my lon in back
You try to empty the contents of your longcoat into the backpack on the ground, but nothing will fit.
>take ches from my lon
You remove a badly damaged maoral chest from in your umber brocade longcoat.
>put ches in back
You put a badly damaged maoral chest in a heavy backpack that is on the ground.
>get cof from my lon
You remove a simple wooden coffer from in your umber brocade longcoat.
>put coff in backp
You put a simple wooden coffer in a heavy backpack that is on the ground.
>l in my lon

>scratch my chin
You scratch your chin.

I did a number of things which have apparently fixed some container-related difficulties in the past. Such as wearing them and doing a SORT AUTO, doing INV FULL worn and INV HANDS FULL. Also all sorts of droping, picking up, swapping, emptying in hands, etc.

Had a GM take a quick gander but they couldn't find anything right away. Anyone ever had anything like this happen before?

Is the longcoat scripted?

I thought this was going to be another cock thread.

Yes, I've had it happen. It usually ends up being that I have something damn heavy in my container, or in the box...like those fucking heavy quartz orbs.

Do you have to be holding or wearing the container you're emptying into for empty to work?

I believe that happens sometimes when you try to empty a container that has containers with stuff inside into another container. If those boxes were empty, it would probably work. Just my theory.

I've had that happen to me when the container I'm emptying from has only non-emptiable items in it (bankbook, manifest, anything that normally borks up the EMPTY verb).

It also happens with shit like bankbooks and manifests and some piercing jewelry. I dunno why.

Jaws needles, and cursed gems are some others I've seen this with.

Edit: Or maybe that's the "but can't seem to get some of the items to come out" message..I dunno.

Don't you have to be holding both items to empty into one another?

To address the concerns presented:

1) Neither containers are scripted and no items contained within are either.
2) To use the command EMPTY <container1> into <container2> you must be holding container1. Container2 can be worn or on the floor.
3) That particular message does not appear if you have things that won't come out (but it is similar). It ends with "but you can't get (a few items|one item) to come out."
4) It is not affected by other containers being in container1 (empty, open, shut, closed, full, locked, etc). Though their contents, obviously, counts against item limits (as with lockers, single-item capacity containers, etc).

I get the "but you can't get..." message if the container I'm emptying from has things that don't work with EMPTY and other items that will work with it (but come after the borked item in the list). I get "but nothing will fit" if only borked items are in the container being emptied.

Example:
Your bag contains a pair of boots, some gloves, a locker manifest, a clear tourmaline, a diamond, a bankbook, and a FWI transport item.

>Emtpy my bag into my cloak: You begin to empty, blah blah, but can't quite get a few items to come out.

Your bag now contains a locker manifest, a clear tourmaline, a diamond, a bankbook, and a FWI transport item.

>Empty my bag into my cloak: You begin to empty, blah blah, but can't quite get a few items to come out.

Your bag now contains a locker manifest, a bankbook, and FWI transport item.

>Empty my bag into my cloak: You try to empty your bag into your cloak, but nothing will fit.

Your bag still contains the manifest, bankbook, and transport item, and you can manually move them into your cloak, but they don't work with EMPTY. This is what I meant. I discovered this during EG, trying to empty digging loot from one container into another.

It would have worked if your cloak was a wolf shirt.

This cloak led me to the teabagging of an uber-hot Erithian guy! Some spooning was involved as well!
