I live in an apartment, my neighbor has an unsecured wireless network that I've been using for about 6 mo. now with no problem, perfect signal strength.

Recently I've been having issues where when I start the computer up it recgonizes the network, connects and then subsequently drops it. when I search for wireless networks, it finds nothing but when I click on repair network it finds, it fixes it and then I can surf the web for about 5 mins before it gets droped again. I have to keep doing this to connect to the web and it sux.

Is this a problem with my nic card or what?

thx

I steal bandwidth every day.. in fact I'm in a parking lot right now doing it.

I hate working at properties who use Verizon FioS.. they always put it PW protected :(

How do you know that the person who set up the network doesn't care if someone else used it? Why does it instantly go to me being an asshole? They could just be generous people and maybe by not using it could come across as rude.

at any rate if it makes you feel better I paid for internet for 5 mo, and each one of those mo I had the same wireless unsecured network that I use now and you know something? The wireless network is FASTER then the direct connection I had.

So if you can sit there and say you'd a paid money for a slower internet connection because you're concerned about bandwidth, kudos for you.

Hey, times are rough. The guy who is paying for it should put a lock on it if he doesn't want others to tap it. Its not a big deal, like a little white lie. Like telling a woman you have pimples on your penis when they're in fact genital warts. Its all the same in the end.
