Pretty much any movie on the sci fi network is terrible. It makes me upset a bit because I love horror/sci fi movies and sometimes the sci fi network will have a horror/sci fi marathon but they are the worst movies ever created.

I rented Shoot 'em up knowing it was suppose to be funny and not a serious action movie. I just felt the comedy wasn't up to par. I liked all the actors in the movie though.
As for Cloverfield, the guy who holds the camera through almost the entire movie was just a cheesy actor and it degraded the movie for me. The concept was great, but I just couldn't get by how shitty of an actor the camera guy was.

Rented Wanted over the weekend. The beginning was alright, Angelina gave me a hard-on and I could even forgive the magic bullet thing, but the whole cloth fate horseshit? Lame. And then the kid at the end asks, "What the fuck have you done lately?" Well I fucking watched this half-assed movie is what I did, asshole. Also it's just not cool when Morgan Freeman says "motherfucker."

For fucking real. How do they turn an action game into a movie where Max Payne goes an hour into it without shooting anyone?! Did any of them play the game? You can't get across the street without needing to kill someone!
I kinda liked Shoot Em Up as a purely nonsense film.
I kinda enjoyed Wanted.
What was a truly shitty movie was "What Just Happened" with Bruce Willis and DeNiro. It was like someone took a shit in my eyes, then ate the shit, and then puked up the vomit shit in my mouth. I don't even understand how you can make such a bad movie about making a bad movie.
Transporter 3 was really disappointingly bad. I liked the first one, the second one was okay, but this one dropped off the fucking roof. The chick was an annoying, dirty ginger.

Twilight was gay as hell.
Oh, we're vampires and we don't go into sunlight not because it will kill us, but because it shows our true form, which instead of being some hellspawn demon looking thing, it's basically just a laminated version of what we already look like.
That movie failed on so many levels it's horrible. Anyone who actually liked this movie is either a) gay b) some myspace emo kid, or c) both.
The only remotely almost cool scene was when they were playing baseball.

I didn't think it was designed to be the best action movie. I saw (and enjoyed) it as a pretty intense drama that used great action scenes to ratchet up the tension. Of course I also have a daughter, so I'm sure that played a part in my perception of it.

I think it depends on whether you've got someone like that or the legacy of someone like that in your family. My grandfather's father was a wildcatter and the after-effects of it certainly painted my grandfather, father, and me. There's a certain sort of ambition that consumes everything else. It helps that there's some really dark humor too.

The Haunting of Molly Hartley. I am in awe of the power it must have taken to compress a turd into DVD form, surely akin to the pressure that makes a diamond from a lump of coal although without the pretty results.

This summer has a lot to live up to after last year, and so far, it ain't.
I'm surprised by a number of the movies being mentioned here. Traitor, Taken, Kung Fu Panda...I liked them all. Not winning any awards, for the most part, but good.
I LOVE Shoot 'em Up. You just need to know what you're getting when you go in, and you end up highly entertained and not disappointed. Same with Fast and Furious, I got what I expected out of that film, and it was a fun popcorn flick. I guess that describes most Vin Diesel movies, come to think of it.
Yeah taken was good. Liam Neeson (or however you spell his name) seemed like an unlikely hero, but he played it well.
I'm always a sucker for the scenes in movies where the good guy tells the bad guy how he's going to kick their ass.
In Taken... the part where he describes his skillsets accumulated over the years
In Rambo 1st blood part 2 (the vietnam one) John Rambo is captured and forced to call in to headquarters where he dials in Murdock and says he's coming for him. This happens in about every rambo movie.
True Lies... Umm... Schwarzenegger? is handcuffed to a chair about to be tortured then he describes to his captor in detail how he is going to kill him. Then explains that he's picked the cuffs before executing his described plan.
the list could go on.

Knowing. This one was kinda split between good and bad, though. I think it had real potential and the first, half maybe, was decent. But the last 20 minutes was just a downward spiral into a giant foaming puddle of gay. In fact, I spent most of those 20 minutes looking like this:

Knocked up. I saw it when I was pregnant and it made me hate the world. So I'm jaded. Dont see movies while you are pregnant. Just the act of sitting and not peeing for a long time sucks in itself. :D
Tropic Thunder was so many levels of dumb i dont know where to start. Were the actors pretending to act like stupid actors or were they actors that were stupid enough to be able to fake a stupid role? Sorry no. I get paid to problem solve, I do not like to problem solve in my leisure time. Especially when the problems to be solved are a mixed identity crisis of a pretend actor who is pretending to act. Or something.

Saw Knowing today. Because of this thread my expectations were low. I expected some serious Dude, Wheres My Car stupidness at the end but it wasnt so bad.
Best part, a little over halfway through the movie some tall blonde guy opens his mouth and sunlight and church music comes out. I was all like...."wait, its not the last 20 minutes yet, its not allowed to get stupid!"
I don't understand how anyone doesn't love Tropic Thunder. That movie was freaking hilarious, and I will be buying it some time in the not-too-distant future.
Knowing was the definition of wasted potential.
Transformers 2 made my inner child cry.
Push was fun, but nothing amazing. Some wasted potential, but NOTHING compared to Knowing. Worth seeing if the opportunity presents itself.

Dragonball Evolution. Rented it knowing it was going to be supremely fucking awful and it didn't miss a beat. It stands among other movie adaptations from gaming/anime culture that make you wonder if anyone involved in the creation of the movie has ever actually seen a YouTube clip of the media they're translating, nevermind an episode.
It seems like they made the film just to piss off fans. It certainly wasn't made for the fans and there's no way this pile of shit would draw new blood to the following.

Oh fuck man, do NOT rent or buy Alien Uprising. I like alien movies but I've become a little cautious about renting movies I've never heard about from Comcast On Demand, so I googled it first. Not a word about it on Rotten Tomatoes but I thought, "hey, it's got Jean Claude Van Damme in it, how bad can it be?"
Pretty fucking bad it turns out.
Van Damme is only in it for like 8 minutes. He actually has a hand in one of the best scenes of the whole movie but that's only because he gets peeled and exploded by an alien ship (a fate I was wishing on the director, writers, and producers by that point.)
I will admit that there were a few surprises and some tense moments but most of it was amateurish shaky camera angles, over emoting actors (all of whom you end up hating), and inexplicable events that are never explained.
But the worse sin of all...not a single FUCKING alien for most of the movie and then, when they do show up it just feels like a total cheat.
What amazes me most is that Comcast had the nerve to ask for $6.99 to rent this POS rather than the normal 4.99. What a joke.
edit: apparently the title was changed for the U.S. release. It was U.F.O. when first released in Britain.

Man of Steel. Not a bad movie but not a great movie. Full credit to Henry Cavill who makes a great Superman. The rest of the cast was either bland or over the top. Ridiculous level of destruction. A grain elevator explodes when Zod and Supes Crash through it...wheat is combustible? Mediocre soundtrack. A decent origin movie that could be a lot more in a sequel. And lighten it up a bit, enough with the Nolan effect.

I'd agree with all of that for the most part. I'd say Moore just started a downhill slide of silliness after his first 3 or 4. Dalton didn't get much of a run-up to make a name for himself, but Living Daylights was ok. Lazenby was terrible. Connery just started showing up for the paycheck.

Saw and did not like Godzilla. I wasn't on edge for a single moment, it was completely predictable. The main character was a yawnfest cliche. And if you think Bryan Cranston has a major role in it, prepare to be disappointed with that too.
I'd put it on the level of Pacific rim. Basically a crappy story with subpar acting that serves as excuse to watch big monsters destroy things. Which sadly I also think there wasn't enough of in this movie.
You see Godzilla for maybe 10 minutes total of collective screen-time? The rest of the movie was just killing time for the big monster fight which wasn't that great. It wasn't the worst movie I've ever seen but I'd definitely give it a thumbs down.

I figure I'm going to like most movies so I just buy them on iTunes. Most movies in my collection ive watched multiple times. Robocop might be the first movie I ever try to delete.
Velfi is right. Call it something other than robocop and my opinion might be different. Then it will just be a shitty movie, instead of a shitty remake of a classic.

Worst movie I have seen in a long time = Enemy.
Do NOT watch for any reason unless you have a serious fetish for bad Canadian film school rejects and/or Jake Gyllenhaal that absolutely requires it. Even still, I'd recommend muting and playing dub step over the scarce but shitty dialogue. You'll need a hug after.

Hercules. The Rock with a bad wig, and an anatomically incorrect breastplate. Some of the battle scenes didn't suck, but they kept changing the size of the CGI army.
I watched GI Joe: Retaliation, it was truly horrendous.

yet it was 10x better than Pain and Gain.

Pain and Gain made me google Mark Wahlberg as Marky Mark. I laughed HARD at that. The acting in the youtube videos, and the acting in that movie, is remarkably similar.

Non-Stop (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2024469/). It just felt like a feature-length "Whaaaaaaaaaaat?". Best (not many to choose from) part for me was at the very end, "Am I in your way, asshole?".

The Congress. I actually turned it off willingly after an hour and a half, which I *never* do because it's against my religion no matter how much something sucks. Don't be fooled by the all-star cast and the sci-fi storyline. It touches your mind in all the bad places and then insults your intelligence. This is not an art film. It's just crap.

I only saw the trailer and decided it looked incredibly stupid. Thanks for confirming that.
I'll add Monument Men to the bad movie list. It took all the horror and drama of WWII and trivialized it into a boring little vat of stupidity.

This isn't a movie I've seen recently, but I was duped into watching Norbit a few years ago, before I fully realized how not funny anymore Eddie Murphy is.
This movie is so bad and stupid that people who are unaware of it must know, so that they don't suffer the same fate I did.

Oh, just caught some tabloid press about Eddie - he cannot act, but he churns out hot daughters (http://www.tmz.com/2014/02/05/eddie-murphy-daughter-bria-shayne-lingerie-photos/), apparently!

Yeah, I didn't care for that one either. It is like it tried to keep a little seriousness and also have a little comedy, but stayed in the boring middle ground. You kinda have to go all the way in that.. Either make Saving Private Ryan or make Hogan's Heroes.

I assumed this was because it was pre-12 years but I looked it up just now and that was actually her first movie(!!!!!!!!) and Non-Stop her second.

Oh my god, I completely agree; that had to be most hackneyed movie I've seen in a theater in years. There were several times, usually as a reaction to the utterly painful dialogue, that my movie cohort and I just looked at each other incredulously and mouthed, "Seriously?" If you want to watch a movie with similar themes that's actually decent, watch either of the Ghost in the Shell movies.
I enjoyed Non-Stop for what it was, and what I expected it to be: an action/thriller on a plane that was largely about what a bad-ass Liam Neeson is in his old age. If that's not your bag and you don't find that sort of thing amusing, I wouldn't recommend it... but eh, I enjoyed it. It's a little less over-the-top than the Taken movies in some ways, and a little more in others, but still in roughly the same vein. And I've definitely watched far worse crap (see above).

I know you were quoting my own post but I read your post and was all like, "wtf, I never watched a movie called Transcendence! I couldn't remember any aspect of it and had to google it before I remembered.
Apparently my mind, acting with self preservation, erased all memory of it.

Selma. Other than Oyelowo's performance, I was bored with the entire movie.
For such an important event in our history, they sure made a shitty movie about it.

It really was awful. I won't be extending extra credit to my students for watching it like I usually do with U.S. History movies.

Selma is sitting at an 89 on metacritic, not that this is the end-all be-all of ratings, but i'm curious why you two found it awful/shitty. I haven't seen it nor do I plan to.

Other than the star it seemed not to have much of a pulse. A lot of the dialogue was Twilight worthy. There's a massive amount of lacking details. LBJ is terribly portrayed. Kevin Spacey does a better job portraying him in House of Cards than Wilkinson does here. All the Coretta/Martin scenes are hollow and seem unrealistic. Just a lot of problems. The Brits cast as Southerners is a big part of it. George Wallace has not one iota of his distressing soul when played by Tim Roth.

I don't know if it's been mentioned yet (probably has been since the movie's been out for a while) but I'm really enjoying Lucy. About halfway through it now, up to the part where she dissolves in the airplane restroom.
Blech @ the ending of Lucy. Lame.
So does it no longer belong here?
I guess not. It's too much work to delete and make another post in the bad movie thread though.
