Pomic swings a deadly black vultite greatsword at a shrickhen, but it has no effect!

A shrickhen claws at you!
AS: +386 vs DS: +427 with AvD: +37 + d100 roll: +70 = +66
A clean miss.

A wave of power flows out of Pomic and toward a deadly black vultite greatsword.
The greatsword is surrounded by a brilliant white light, revealing a shadow beneath. Suddenly the greatsword vibrates to a high pitch and then disintegrates!

He used symbol of holiness on it. Is it possible the item had been cursed without us seeing it?

Hrm. Was it tempered for enchanting? Interesting effect in any case.

It's because God hates you.

Because you touch yourself at night?

If it were tempered, it probably would have shattered on the attempted swing rather than when Holiness was cast on it. A bless should've just bounced off.

That seems like the right messaging for an explosion caused by curse/bless. Something in there does cast curse.

The dhu gholeras curse. But I've only ever seen the itchy curse off them.

That is what I was looking for. He was cursed in the last hunt with the falling down type curse. However, he blessed the weapon after that point with no problem. I am scouring the log of the hunt (again) to see if I missed something.

Yeah, the item itself would have had to been cursed, so I'd check for that. But curse then bless shattering is a known feature. There are several other items that are high end items that react poorly to a bless as well. Though I believe Khaladon's black ora just damages you. I dunno, it's something I won't test for obvious reasons.

When you cast curse on someone, even itchy curse, it can also seep into specific somethings they're wearing/holding if it's strong enough.

If you've seen 315 cast on someone, and their items glow with an intense light or some such, that's the curse coming off.

Goleras do curse, and that looked like the curse/bless reaction to me, too.

He was casted on previously.

A dhu goleras waves her knobby grey fingers at Pomic!
CS: +350 - TD: +254 + CvA: -21 + d100: +33 == +108
Warding failed!
A thread of pure black magic issues forth from the dhu goleras toward Pomic. It coils itself around him, whirling malevolently before disappearing within his body.
Pomic begins to move erratically and looks extremely clumsy!

That was previous hunting. The clumsy effect faded. There was no direct messaging I saw saying it seeped into a cloak or sword. Can curse seep into items without messaging to that effect?

I think only Pomic would see it.

One way to know if the greatsword was cursed on the last hunt: did Pomic sheath/stow/put-away the greatsword after the hunt, or did he just leave it in his hands?
