Howdy folks. As the title explains, I'll be doing some maintenance on the server.. (yum update with kernel upgrade, what could go wrong?) ;)

Also, the machine is scheduled to be moved to its (hopefully) permanent location. Most likely that will occur this weekend, but there is the distinct possibility that it may be delayed.

I will update this outage notification as things progress.

Random reply -- Lich does or does not work with Vista?

Inspire, since your question is not related to maintenance, I think you should ask in another thread. :) I believe that some folks have been able to make it work with Vista.

Maintenance has been delayed due to travel arrangements falling through.

I'm told that on Saturday 1/24 at around 11am (EST) the server that lichnet resides on will be taken down for this maintenance window. I expect that the server should be back up in its new home by the next day.

Again, I will update this when I find out more.

There's a problem with the upstream at the moment.

For those of you who know tech-speak, the class C that we're on is having problems with routes flapping, so the upstream provider taking precautions. Staff is looking into the problem as we speak ^WW I type.

Ya... I started Tillmen's new version of Lich for windows that had been tested for 68 seconds before released.

And it died the moment I logged in...

Argh. NSTAR had a transformer that blew up (literally) under the street last week, while I was on vacation. Normally, that wouldn't have been a problem, but then the generator failed as well.

I'm told that NSTAR should have this fixed sometime today.

Doing a quick shutdown and move of power cables. Should be back up momentarily.
