Well I'm planning on getting some 10x leathers but not sure if I should stay with fulls or train for doubles.

Any input on which would be best and why?

:thanx:

Doubles.

Lower CvA is the most important thing. Being trained for doubles, you can also wear enhancive armor accessories (helm, greaves) without penalty.

Switching to doubles is one of the most satisfying moves I ever made.

On the flip side, the zero wizard spell failure of fulls is a boon that can save your life, perhaps more often than the head/neck protection of doubles.

Focus on boosting your 409/415 CS and train into some forest green brig.

I like the sounds of having leathers protect everything but is the damage negation really worth the extra training points and 4% hindrance?

If you hunt stuff that does maneuvers and head shots you'll want HCP doubles. Otherwise just wear fulls and boost your DS with scrolls and MIU.

People who can't stomach 4% hindrance are weak.

If your shopping for end game armor. Go HCP doubles. Nelmar is a pain without them. Lots of stupid deaths.

I totally agree with Rimalon. The ability to add accessories is nice. You can add padding and/or enhancives. I vote doubles.

Many thanks for the input. I think I will be going doubles.

Anyone know how much ranks in armor use would it take to reduce double leathers casting hinderance down to 4%?

15 armor ranks.

question: for warmages, still doubles or LBP?

Doubles. Stacking accessories....better AVD.....better action penalty. You get hit and you're screwed with either.

You also see a bunch of mobs.

>incant 410

You cast Ewave.
Your spell does shit because of your armor.

Mob chops your leg off with maneuver.
You are stunned for 45 rounds!
Roundtime: 680 seconds.

More mobs pwn you.

...It seems you have died my, friend.

That.

I used to keep my mage in siren lizard, but it got to the point where the hindrance, while really low, was causing me more problems than any hits that got in. Admittedly, they don't have a ton of padding, but it was still enough of an issue that I changed my mind.
I put the points I saved from training down my armor (and a little extra, to cover what was left) into 15 ranks of Earth Lore for the boost to Strength, and find a ranger for Mobility if I plan on hunting anything that maneuvers. Between those two, I'm usually set. Add 540 for good measure, and Phoen's if I'm heavy with loot, and I can pretty much walk away from everything.

I'm of the camp of wearing fulls, and then having the capability of adding accessories to get to double protection (sans the CvA I think). Just depends on what I'm hunting on which accessory I put on, if at all. That way you get the benefit of both worlds for the most part.

Obviously I am trained for doubles, but I'm usually wearing some 1 lb 9x hcp fulls, and layer on leg/arm/head protection if I want it. I just sold my 8x doubles the other day in fact.

so if doubles are obviously the superior armor why do so many warmages wear LBP's?

Even with doubles, the 400s circle has no spell hindrance.

E-WAVE WILL NEVER FAIL, AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

You cast Wizard Spell.
Your spell does shit because of your armor.

Mob that would be dead now if you were wearing full leather chops your leg off with maneuver .00001 seconds after your spell failed.
You are stunned for 45 rounds!
Roundtime: 680 seconds.

Fixed.

I think the only time I died because I was wearing fulls over doubles was when I first went to sand devils at 40 something, and that was more due to lack of crit padding than anything.

I remember 47832904723 instances where I died because I got spell hindrance at a critical time though back when I used doubles.

Rapid fire is no fun with doubles either :(

so if doubles are obviously the superior armor why do so many warmages wear LBP's?

If by warmage you mean a mage that swings a hasted weapon then I'd guess they are lower level and are more likely to need the scale protection maybe? Don't know of many warmages at end game.

Methais raises a great point about rapid fire and I'd like to officially change my stance on the issue by agreeing with Suppa Hobbit Mage and stacking accessories on top of fulls. Someone sell me some 4x fulls?

I've switched over to doubles and got some 4x HCP doubles. The 4% is only a small annoyance and I haven't died from it yet. I'm definitely seeing the difference in the damage and the amount of stuns I used to take though. I guess my opinion is it is worth it if you have some HCP+ doubles and enough mana. At level 61, losing some mana here and there is barely noticeable.
