Robbie Bach, Microsoft's President of Entertainment and Devices, says that the X-Box 360 will be around longer than the original X-Box was. "Just coming up with something that's faster and prettier isn't going to be sufficient...The life cycle for this generation of consoles, and I'm not just talking about Xbox, I'd include Wii and PS3 as well, is probably going to be a little longer than previous generations." said Bach.
This statement coincides with Sony's, who have said for years that the PS3 has a "10 year lifespan". Bach also asserts that the recent economic downturn would make it impractical to come out with a new generation of systems, and that Microsoft wants to be positioned well when the economy eventually starts to improve.

Massive downsizing of Age of Conan servers.
In the face of a struggling world economy, Funcom has revealed that it will reduce the number of Age of Conan servers from 49 to 18.
According to Gamesindustry.biz, the server cuts will affect North American and Oceanic regions the hardest. Within those territories, the Norwegian videogame publisher will reduce the server count from 24 to 6.
In Europe, only four out of its 12 total servers will be English-speaking. To put these cuts into perspective, there are currently 13 English-speaking servers in Europe alone.
While Funcom revealed that it would consolidate the MMO's servers back in late 2008, the publisher did not then announce how many servers would make the cut. In addition to cost-saving measures for Funcom, the server consolidations would give Age of Conan a greater sense of population density.
While the subscription-based MMO is struggling in a time of recession, the game initially received solid reviews; however, it did receive criticism for the lack of late-game content.
