Empath Or Cleric [Archive] - The Gemstone IV Players' Corner

Hello all,

Just wondering which would be more fun as a caster would go? I'd like to migrate to rune staves eventually. I have a paladin, war wizard and archer ranger right now...looking into cleric or empath next.

Along with that, when would it be viable to swap over to casting with either profession?

I'm sure I could hunt a lot less as an empath until I could sustain bone shatter...

Does rezzing out weigh healing people, is it less annoying too?

Lastly, Is there a god that loves pain...if I went with either I'd want it to be a masochist. I read the officials but can't seem to find a real definitive answer.

Empaths certainly have a stronger character build. I would place clerics as the weakest class in the game at the moment. They're kinda sucky.

yes, but empaths can't make immolation grenades.

Yeah - play an empath, because they have more versatility in training. Clerics have lower physical training costs to counter this neutered niche, but overall, clerics don't have the build potential to compete and be as effective at higher levels.

I'd agree with this for the most part. 1110 is awesome, but clerics get 312 (some of the coolest spell messaging imo), and 317

If you hunt in a group a lot 307 and 310 are a good perk for being a cleric. Always like the professions that give group bonuses when hunting.

I would have to agree. If you solo then go Empath, if you MA or hunt in a group then go Cleric.

just don't roll a cleric if you want to raise people at the landing. Kaedra has that on lockdown. lol
