So, this sorta old idea has peaked interest in the officials. In theory, it is a unique idea and a ability that would quite frankly be too cool if the GMs implemented it right. What do you all think?

Just so it does not fall off the radar screen.

Durfin want CARRY verb!

You see the body of Dolarr

>Carry Dolarr

You sling the lifeless body of Dolarr over your shoulder and prepare to carry him.

>south

Self:
You go south carrying the lifeless body of Dolarr.

Others:
Durfin arrives carrying the body of Dolarr. (paints a picture, doesn't it?)

>Carry stop

Self:
You lay the lifeless body of Dolarr on the ground.

Others:
Durfin lays the lifeless body of Dolarr on the ground.

OR, for a little flair!

>Carry drop

Self:
You drop the lifeless body of Dolarr in a heap on the ground.

Others:
Durfin irreverently drops the lifeless body of Dolarr on the ground.

*No Dolarr's were harmed in the making of this demonstration.

BTW, would like to add. Carry should also be extended to live people (voluntary of course). I also think it should be able to be useable on stunned critters.

>carry orc

(roll:d100 56, 145)
With massive strength you heave the stunned Greater Burrow Orc over your head and then drop the Greater Burrow Orc crashing to the ground.

...Blow to spine snaps a few vertebrae!
...25 pts of damage!

etc.

Heh, funny. I still want to be able to LK and Drag critters.

Durfin arrives dragging the body of a massive pyrothag behind him.

Durfin asks, "Cleric?"

What limitations are you suggesting for when you're carrying someone? I'm assuming your encumberance should instantly take on their weight, what other effects (if any)? Do you need open hands? Can you fight?

You probably assumed this, but it should be stated this should be subject to the same grouping rules as drag. So as a dead person you can get yourself dropped (heh, so you can't kill someone, carry them, and prevent anyone else from taking them).

Are they considered still in the room... can someone else start dragging them? Do they even show in the 'also here' or would it be when you looked at the carrier you see "He is carrying soandso".

etc etc ... you've go to flush this out for me to vote.

I don't understand why this is necessary. What kind of benefit does this have over dragging someone? Lack of RT? Ability to get past obstacles? Meh..

Ability to get past obstacles, yes.

Lack of RT, never gave it much thought.

And, of course, RP (I know, I know).

I think this is the best reason.

Not sure why this is in the warrior folder. I could see this as being kind of general. Of course the small races would have their issues. Maybe you're only allowed to haul same-size or smaller characters?

I think it's a really cool idea though. It needs to be flushed out in terms of game mechanics as Celephais said but I don't think I'd need to know where the character appears to third parties in order to vote that it's really cool and ought to be implemented.

Maybe something along these lines:
"Also here: Durfin with the body of Dolarr over his shoulder, ..."

Celephais' questons, Durfin's proposed answers.

What limitations are you suggesting for when you're carrying someone?

Depends on how many hands it takes. Reduced DS of course, major encumberance.

I'm assuming your encumberance should instantly take on their weight, what other effects (if any)?

Yes to the encumberance. There is also a check, to see if you can actually pick them up.

Do you need open hands? Can you fight?

I propose 1 free hand, kind of the over the shoulder carry thing. I am sure that the PTB will require 2 if this gets done.

You probably assumed this, but it should be stated this should be subject to the same grouping rules as drag. So as a dead person you can get yourself dropped (heh, so you can't kill someone, carry them, and prevent anyone else from taking them).

Yes.

Are they considered still in the room... can someone else start dragging them?

No group carry.

Do they even show in the 'also here' or would it be when you looked at the carrier you see "He is carrying soandso".

Carrying soandso.

Not sure why this is in the warrior folder.

Original concept of the Carry very came about months ago when we were brainstorming on the Officials for improvements to the Warrior profession.

I'm certainly not opposed to it, but I don't see it as any significant improvement to the profession.

Significant improvement, no ,I'll agree with you there.

Still, I think it would be a nice feature. With no Guru and a game that is heavily slanted towards casters, I'll take what I can get.

I agree. Actually, that's the only reason I really considered when I voted in favor of it.

..It needs to be flushed out...

you've go to flush this out

I've been seeing this on several forums lately and this time it annoyed me enough to post about it. you don't flush out and idea...if you did that would basically mean the idea sucks and needs to go dowth the crapper.

To "flesh out" an idea is to give it more substance.
You "flesh out" concepts to substantiate them.

Carry sounds like a good idea if done right - i've posted about it on the officials a few times and would love to see something actually happen for the warrior class.

yeah I'm not sure why I wrote flush... I do know it's flesh. I feel ashamed :(
