So what's the best way to convert a song downloaded from Itunes into something my cheap mp3 player can play? Or, alternatively another site that I can straight download that has cheap songs.

Burn the Apple tracks to a CD, rip the CD. I think Apple's going to start selling all of it's music tracks DRM free, though.
Otherwise, BitTorrent or Limewire.

So I tried looking and couldn't find what you were talking about. Can you paste a link?

So I've managed to burn a track from itunes to a blank cd. I tried to drag/drop the file from the cd into the mp3 player, but I guess it won't play .cda files.
Any suggestions now?

You need to rip the CD after you burn it. The files you see on a music CD are basically instructions on where the songs are on the disk; they aren't music files.
Do yourself a favor and don't give Apple the satisfaction of inconveniencing another person.

I've heard the phrase, but never done it myself. I normally just stream internet radio, so I wouldn't even know how to begin. What do I do?

What do you suggest then? The MP3 is for my daughter, not me. Where else can I download things like the Highschool musical soundtrack and disney songs?

I didn't realize Amazon had Mp3s. Also, for some reason I thought a lot of what Itunes had was only on itunes. Glad to know I was wrong.
Thanks Bob

Yep, and it will start charging different prices for various songs, too. It made me a very happy girl.

Yeah, we'll see. Most of the stuff I listen to is not very high on the popularity list, so I'm hoping it'll be cheaper.
