Shield Sizing

Does dodge ranks added by spells figure into optimal shield sizing? Or just trained dodging? I'm trying to figure out if I would benefit from a shield size change. Currently I'm using a medium unconverted shield.

Dodge Ranks 50 (spells)

If your not going to train in Dodging, at all, I imagine a Large or Tower shield would be better

Without having done any testing, I'm almost positive that phantom dodge ranks are weighted just the same as trained ranks with regards to DS.

Easy way to find out is just look at your DS w/ a plain medium shield and a plain large shield.

Yes spell Dodge ranks are treated the same as regular Dodge ranks. Agility bonus also gets thrown into the Dodge formula (as well as Intuition bonus/4 and a few other factors) which complicates things. Hard to say without knowing those numbers for you, but small is probably best for you in offensive and tower is probably the best in guarded.

looks like a larger shield is better for me. Is really 10-20 ds difference with mele and bolt attacks. I could convert the 9x to a kite shield. But i do like the higher percentage for block with the x large shield. any idea what a 9x unconverted kite shield is going for?
