Wow. Denver gets rid of Shanahan and Dallas doesn't dump Wade Phillips for doing even worse with a much bigger bankroll?
So who is going to pick up Shanahan now? Detroit?
EDIT: By even worse I mean controlling your own destiny in the final game of the season and BEYOND EPIC FAIL performance at that game.

It's hard to get rid of wade waddles this year. I doubt he makes the cut next year however with same let down.
My Bucs seriously fell face first after Monte announced his leaving to them. They are really going to suck ass next year.
Rofl on a side note all the papers were FREE AT LAST! since detroit joined the 0-16 club.
I was surprised about Shanahan. He was on his 10th string RB. His defense wasn't very good but they did have a lot of injuries. Tough year and he went 8-8.

Yeah somebody's getting a great coach in Shanahan. Too bad Marv Lewis has so many years left on his contract.

Or the Patriots at 11-5 sitting out the playoffs, meanwhile San Deigo gets in at 8-8, and the Cardinals at 9-7.
<grumble>
I don't even think Shanahan can turn around Detroit, but be nice to see him try.

San Diego got in at 8-8. Even worse.

Yah, I fixed that, meant the Cardinals at 9-7, and heck, Shanahan went 8-8 , and Denver stayed home too in their division, and he lost his job.
Sheesh! Lot of sub-par teams in the playoffs.
~Paul
I agree that divisions are important but I don't think you should be allowed in the playoffs without a winning record. As a Dolphin fan I'm happy they went but I'd be very upset if NE had the tiebreaker and the Dolphins stayed home at 11-5. It's a crappy situation.

I dunno I'm pretty fucking loyal to them. Can't say the same about the rest of tampa bay but I've never jumped ship.
Shanahan no longer good enough for the Broncos, Mangini 2 winning seasons in 3 years not good enough for the Jets, lots of experienced winning coachs out there potentially... but 3 straight 7-9 seasons is good enough for Dick Jauron to keep his job.

Given the way that Shanahan prepares for the Raiders every year and his overall record against them, as a Broncos fan I'm terrified to see how we do against whatever team he ends up with. Honestly though, how hilarious would it be if he replaced Wade Phillips again and won more Super Bowls right after. I'm not a Cowboys fan but I really think he could pull it off down there.

He won't. Jason Garrett is next in line to replace Wade and the money they are paying that guy, I'm actually surprised they haven't forced Wade out yet.

I'm sure you heard Tony Dungy retired from the Colts. As much as I hate the colts I was actually a bit upset he left. He was a good coach.

Herm Edwards fired in KC ; speculation is that Shanahan will get this job.

Also, I know Jacksonville just hired a paper defensive coordinator, I think Herm could do a goob job with them.

What's the deal on Gregg Williams? I know he's had good defenses with an aggresive scheme. I'm just trying to figure out what the Saints are getting in him.
Shanahan will be coaching the Chiefs next year.

Gregg Williams is a 3-4 specialist known for the blitz schemes. Jax runs a 4-3, and lost the middle strength with Stroud gone to Buffalo. John Henderson is a great player, but getting doubled and sometimes triple teams contained him last year. Jacksonville screwed themselves jumping up to 8 for Harvey because they wanted pass-rush, got Williams and did squat. Color me not impressed.
