Part of a storyline from a while back. I think it was related to the death mechanics changes but I might be wrong on that.

It's also involved in making residue to turn in for death sting potions.

Are those the violet potions the priestess hands out? I was wondering. Cure Death's Sting, do rhey? Or at least lessen the effects?

They'll cure the sting, but be warned, it can take a lot. I spirit deathed my cleric once on a raise and it took over 100K in potions to get her recovered.
Supposedly, there's a way to get the ingredients to have her make the potion for you. Last I heard, a whole 3 people had figured out how, and nobody was talking to share the secret. That was over a year ago, I never hear anybody even ask about it now, they just buy the potions and guzzle them down.

That's what the residue does. Give the priestess the residue, she gives you a free potion. The residue goes bad in a week though.
About a year or two ago I helped out when Rhett and Tabor figured out the puzzle. It involves a lot of work. You'll pretty much need to station characters in every town with a mound (unless you figure out how to aim the thing, which I never did), as well as a character able to get into Cavernhold without getting fucked.
I know that a website ended up popping up with the solution. Not a clue where it is.
And don't ask me for specifics. It's been so long that I barely remember it.

Maybe you're thinking of this website: http://www.mularos.com/deathsting.html
That's the only one I know of with much info about this stuff.

...I find it easier just not dying than figuring out that freaking quest.
I think the reason people don't share info on this is that the more people know, the more people you need to fight for the components.

Kahly, I don't understand your avatar. Is the big shouldered girl going to have sex with the giant space snail in the background?

The information contained on this site is really intuitive.

the potions first cure your stamina deficiency then the EXP limiter, so if you wait until your stats get back up to buy the potions you will not have to buy as many.
atleast thats what i've noticed from my experience with them.
