You sense that the ritual is complete and lower your hands. The flame beneath the cauldron quietly goes out. You note that the solution in the cauldron has condensed into a rich potion.
You reach into the cauldron and fill your flask.
[You have 1 repetition remaining.]
R>put acantha in my cloak
>light cauldron
You put a tincture of acantha in your all-weather cloak.
R>
...wait 1 seconds.
What happened there? Why did the potion go away fine but the cauldron not light? I've never seen that kind of error before.

Seems to have something to do with timing, specifically, the amount of time it takes one to stow an item - usually not much. I am not all savvy on the mechanics, yet I also experienced similar glitches in same situation.
To remedy, I added a pause 1 or 2 (depending) line following the line where I stowed something.
Put stow right
pause 1
goto start
Alternatively, one could add the pause to the beginning of the next "verse"
START:
put pause 1
put light cauldron
waitfor You focus
put get water
Conversely, one can put a waitfor command after the stow line:
Put stow right
waitfor You put
goto start
Yes it's a little extra work and it does add length to the script on the whole but it does ensure against annoyances like the one you describe.

I've noticed this several times when I started my fletching scripts. I usually add two 'pause 1' lines or a 'waitfor' command and haven't had another problem yet. It didn't happen the first or second arrow; usually started after that and at infrequent intervals. I don't know if theres an in-game mechanic to prevent afk-scripting, but this leads me to that assumption.

You incurred a second of roundtime for generic script-checking for your light cauldron command.
It's the part where you incurred a second of roundtime for generic script-checking for your light cauldron command.
Also, furries.
