As long as they don't gay up Gambit, it looks pretty good. And the young Storm we caught a glimpse of? WTF is she doing there and not in Africa? She was born in NYC, but her parents moved back to Africa when she was just a baby, didn't they? ...crap, my nerdiness is showing.

I don't really care about the story as long as Hugh Jackman shows off his body for the bulk of it.

edit: she moved to Egypt before she was 1. then her parents died. then she took up with a street gang.

DCSL
12-15-2008, 03:12 PM
She's only Wakandan by marriage to Black Panther. And, btw, I hope that marriage ends soon. It's boring having her off the market. I liked her with Forge, even though it ended tragically. Her mother was.. what.. Kenyan? And she grew up in Egypt.

So she's got a multinational background. She still shouldn't be on the same continent as Wolverine at that age. Unless one of his military expeditions takes him to Cairo at some point and he gets pickpocketed by a white-haired junior thief.

There's no such thing as coincidence in the Marvel Universe. Well. Not in DC either, really. If one potential superhero saves another potential superhero from eating a poisoned sandwich when they were five, they will inevitably meet up in their attractive twenties and get it on. If one potential supervillian slaps a potential superhero for stealing her boyfriend in high school, they will become archenemies in another decade.

If it looks like Storm, it is Storm.

i think they saw the raw sexual attraction between her and hugh jackman in Swordfish and decided to rock it again....

also, Storm is black. Name another black actress with the body and name recognition to fill that role.

DCSL

Vivica A. Fox

Gabrielle Union

she's attractive. she's also been in some of the worst fucking movies I've ever seen (with the exception of Bad Boys 2, which was still pretty dookie). Her acting abilities are extremely suspect.

No. Please see...Are We There Yet? Are We Done Yet? Big Momma's House 1 & 2. Although having been in Boiler Room does give her slightly more credibility because that movie rlz.

To be fair we're talking about 2000 when XMen came out. Thandie newton isn't really much of a household name now but she was a blip in 2000 (until MI2 and actually Xmen came out) and became more recognized with Crash and Riddick in 2004. Has anyone actually seen any of her movies before MI2?

So I just watched the trailer, and other than lots of liberties with the actual history, looks awesome. I really like Liev Schriever? However you spell it.

90% of the characters I don't know, they really are using characters that were developed after I stopped reading the X-men (and they had like 30 spin offs and it was impossible to read them all anyway).

Now lets talk about the Hellfire Club. THAT's a movie I'd love to see, with the White Queen and how Phoenix became Dark Phoenix, etc etc etc. I'm ok with the movies being different though, makes them fun to watch.

I caught Domino about halfway through the first time I saw it, and was really confused.

Then I watched it a second time the full way through and really paid attention, and then it made more sense. So I think it can be confusing, but only if there's something there to interfere with the comprehension (i.e. the meds you were on).

Kind of sort of.

Siege perilous ... Storm didn't enter (remember she lost her mutant powers up until that point). Was captured by the Nanny who turned her into a child ... enter Gambit. Start the Genoshan story line and six issues later she's an adult again.

Also I think the choice for Sabretooth this go-round sucks.

Also, in a tangent.....Ryan Renolds as Deadpool? That's a good choice, imho.

I'd agree, except Deadpool was a product of the Weapon X project managed by Dept K (Canadian ... same program Wolves came out of ... except it was Dept H and the founding of Alpha Flight). The process of giving him a healing factor (along with his numerous plastic surgeries) left him horribly disfigured. I can't get behind a pretty-boy Deadpool. It's also kind of hard to swallow a US military program behind Wolves when Dept H/K and the Weapon X project were Canadian and lead by Guardian (Hudson).

By big, I meant muscular. He's also short, which would be perfect. What is he, 5'2"? And hairy.

http://www.maniatv.com/images/content/general/0000/0521/pic_danzig2.jpg

But he's also a douchebag of a size that goes beyond his physical height. That punching video is hi-larious.

Also, as for Deadpool and prettiness, I didn't even think of that. I just sort of assumed they'd uglify him. Now I have to go back and look at the trailer and see if they have him there being pretty.

And I'd rather see Rogue's origin movie more than Nightcrawler or Wolverine, actually. And none of that Anna Paquin shit. The REAL Rogue origins, not the severe neutering they gave her in the X-movies.

Yeah I didn't see that. He's one of my favorite actors and think he should be doing way more. I LOVED him as Nightcrawler.

I'm also one of those that don't judge an actor by the movie itself. I'm able to see whether someone is a good or bad actor despite the writing or plot. Johnny Depp is a great example of that.

NocturnalRob
12-16-2008, 03:09 PM
eh, fair enough. maybe i just thought he was a little annoying. then again, nightcrawler himself is a little annoying with his very obvious inner struggle.

i also think he has probably one of the cooler abilities, and it wasn't really highlighted in the last movie (aside from the scene on the Blackbird.

That's not young Danzig tho. :P

Young Danzig was when he was in Misfits, before he went solo. He was hot then.

Wasn't there a battle between Hulk and Wolverine where Wolverine cuts him in half and Hulk is standing there holding himself together? I checked Hulk 181 and 340, but I can't remember when that happened. Or if it did, I might be imagining it.

I remember this. Wolverine cut his heart and left him for dead. To bad the Hulk is a badass.

No Hudson, no Dept H, no weapon X program ... no Wolverine.

I don't mind the messing around of the story line when it comes to making a good flick out of it ... after all, Wolverine had an Aussie accent when it came to the X-Men intro on Spiderman and his Amazing friends. The accent stuck through the failed X-men pilot. I'd just like to see a bit of continuity.

I get all that, I was talking about Alpha Flight. The X-Men are located in NY and have a jet. Just call them in the Canucks have a problem with someone disrupting a hockey game or stealing snow.

I'd like to see the Wolverine origins with his love of Yuriko (I think that was her name) and battle with the SilverSamuri. And again, to reiterate, the Hellfire club and Phoenix storyline was one of the best I'd ever read. To be honest, all the "new" Gen X characters I'm not at all familiar with, so I don't have a lot of interest in Gambit, Havok, etc. I'd rather see the old school stuff like Galactus, Phoenix, Hellfire club, the Brood (how awesome would that be!), Xaviers love of that alien chick, etc.

Gen X and the New Xmen kinda suck. The New Xmen have some cool characters, but they're all kids.

I went to a comic store a few nights ago and got a bunch of graphic novels. I got the X-Cutioners Song (my all time favorite story line ever), the entire Onslaught Saga, Wolverine Origins, Wolverine Weapon X (BADASS!), and Messiah Complex which is a newer story, but very badass too.

Jackman said something regarding the second movie tying into that whole love/Silver Samurai arc if they make one.
