Can't find this anywhere, wondering how character TD's are calculated in general.

Yeah, that gives less information then the official site.

All I know right know is it's +3 TD per level of character for EVERYONE. But it's different between professions because of the way they train in spells. Would like to know how much sTD is added by training in a particular spell circle say spirit circle or whatever.

If you're looking for spell information and growth per training there is ample information on the officials under spell circles. Be sure to also factor in lore training via a chart like carabelle's, as that can be a factor as well. Stats also play a role in TD, but I imagine that they are explained in the links already provided.

Ok, I guess I'll get even more detailed. It's +3 TD per level, +spells w/ or w/o lores also adding, + gizmos like TD adding shields etc., + TRAINING in SPELL CIRCLE. I'm looking at the officials right now but can't find this last tidbit. How much TD does training in a particular spell circle add?

I cast Mana Disrupt, my CS is thusly, at a sorcerer who also has trained in sorcerer circle, what is this sorcerer's TD? relative to a rogue who has not trained at all in any spell circle?

Target Defense is a reflection of a character's ability to resist or mitigate the damage of a warding spell. A character earns 3 points of TD per level, and the appropriate stat bonus is added depending on the nature of the spell (the aura bonus is counted for elemental spells, while the wisdom bonus is counted for spiritual spells). TD is also increased by certain spells being active, as well as other factors.

So basically level * 3 + Wisdom or Aura Bonus + Spell and item TD enhancers

I don't believe training in any circle enhances TD.

Hum, wierd. Then what makes pure TD's like meteorically higher then a squares? Just the self cast spells does that?

Probably because pures have a profession bonus to wisdom and/or aura.

There are a few spells where the bonuses go up as you train in the circle. Like spell 430 gives you more elemental TD with more minor elemental ranks. 913 and 310 work like that as well. You'd have to go through the spell descriptions. It will say something like this:

+10 Defense Strength (DS), +1 DS for every Wizard spell known over 913 as well as +20 Elemental Target Defense (ETD), +1 ETD for every 3 Wizard spells known over 913.

The spell's TD goes up, but training in the CIRCLE itself doesn't increase TD on its own.

Yep it is tied to having the spell on so if you get dispelled or something the TD goes away with the spell.

Correct. The Sorcerer spell 712 provides 100+ DS and nearly as much TD. That is our core defensive spell. It rather sucks when it is knocked off.

Is there Alchemy items that can increase TD. I bet the GM's carefully manuevered around any items concerning TD boosts or trammeling on the territory of sorcerer spell circles... they have such a careful care about not offending the sorcerers. heh heh.

Buh? Much of alchemy is just taking spells from profession/major/minor circle and putting them into wands or trinkets. It is essentially allowing a greater outside access to spells for casters and non-casters alike.

Sorcery has nothing to do with it.

CoL has a sign that increases TD, as does GoS.

While not particularly direct, you can also add Wisdom or Aura enhancives to your AdG badge too, which would increase your TD.

I believe there are also racial bonus's to TD. Dwarves get like +50. Or is that to resistance?

i thought it was +10 to elemental TD for dwarves...i know for a fact its not +50 though

The dwarf pseudo TD was nerfed from GS3 to 4 like a lot of things, I think psinet might have the current numbers but I think it got halved. Halfling psuedo remained the same or only slightly nerfed.
