AIM website help?

Okay so I just went through the hair pulling nightmare of reformatting my shitty computer..and I need to download AIM. I went to the website, www.aim.com and the only thing that loads after 948534879832749237 tries is the fucking stupid find a job banner at the top. Nothing else.

I'm really at my wits end. Every other site loads fine, the AIM site loads up fine on the other computer and on other people's computer..it's just me for some reason. Any help before I break out the sledgehammer please?

It does that to me too..my fix was to wait..the loading grapic stops moving, but the rest will pop up in like 30 seconds

If you mean that one that pops up to the side of AIM when you logon, you can get rid of that by changing your preferences. I don't have AIM on right now, but I think it's something like unchecking the 'show news' box.

I personally use Trillian. It is a buddy software program that allows you to be logged into multiple accounts (AIM, Yahoo, MSN, ICQ, etc.) at the same time, even multiple accounts within the same network (3 AIM accounts). And it puts it all into one buddy list.

Gaim is still better. It does the same thing only it's cooler, automatically puts up an away message if you're idle, sets your idle time, has text replacement, t3h 4w3som3 emoticons, font color/size/background ignore, auto-logging in HTML or plain text, an awesome buddy list, and tabs IMs in one window.

Yeah I have Dead AIM still. I was going to try Bob's Gaim cause he IMed me and told me it was better than Dead AIM but...I haven't had a chance to check it out yet. I will eventually.

I use deadaim but I hear Trillian is definitly worth it if you use multiple chat things. I just use aol though and so do most people I talk to so I'm sticking with deadaim.

I like using Trillian because I have 3 AOL names I use (GS, Work, & Other). And bob, Trillian has most (if not all) the features you mentioned.

My favorite is the nicknames, so I don't have to remember who people are when their screen names are like Edine's (nothing related to the name "Edine").

I blocked them all because it took up my entire viewable buddy list if I opened the tab I had him under. I unblocked Bobmuhthol because it's his AIM one he keeps open, and Rachel Pwnz because it's the Gaim one he uses.

And I must either not have Wezas on my list or he has me blocked or something because he's never on. I've talked to him before, but I'm not sure on which screen name.

Oh and I use DeadAIM. My only problem is I can't do aliases. I'd switch to Trillian but I don't like how shows people's info. I look at info/away messages when I'm bored.

I don't like how big the names are on the list.. I can only look at like 10 at a time. I have like 100 on my list and I don't like having to scroll to see who all is on.

Translation: I'm lazy. No.

Method of doing so:
Preferences, Buddy List. Disable showing buddy icons. 36 people on one screen instead of 19.

I'm currently 10+ miles away from my apartment, where that screen name is logged in.

I use Empath Tayre if/when I log in on campus, and I have a screen name that only Taerven has because it's my cell phone and he doesn't have one, so I can't text him when I'm bored (in class). Everyone else (who matters) has a cell phone so I just use their number.
