Spikes on Armor

I was wondering if putting spikes on a suit that covers head to toe, like Full Plate and wearing armor accessories, such as a helmet, will prevent the spikes from flaring on Headbutt, or wear arm greaves will prevent them from flaring on Haymaker?

Also, as a side question, do chest spikes or arm spikes cause the flare on Tackle?

When I put on flaring greaves over spiked hauberk, I found that the spikes never fired, but the flares would after several...several poor, groin-sore roltons.
