Roleplay help

I purchased a female empath a few months ago. I have her on a second account that I hunt along side my main account.

She never talks and only occasionly will grin and say thank you.
I don't know how to roleplay a girl.
What should I do to make her have more of a personality.
Sometimes when people bow to her she bows back.

Any pointers would help.

I've found that if you're having trouble finding a niche or a way to RP a certain thing you're unfamiliar with, pick a character you ARE familiar with, and use it as a basis. A woman or girl from a television show, a movie, a book, whatever. Adopt the very basics of their mannerisms, and then as you grow more comfortable with the style, fiddle with it, add to it, and give it your own personal touch.

Idea 1

You now have a female character, but you cringe and die a little inside as a player when acting bubbly and proper like a schoolgirl (this is me). You want to play a woman without having to be overly feminine.

First actress that comes to mind that pulls this off fairly well is Candace Bergen.

Okay, so you take the basics of her personality. She's strong willed, not masculine by any means but doesn't stand for the same type of crap a normal girl would. Independent, Hard working, Trustworthy.

So you don't curtsy. You don't giggle. You don't wear dresses.

Maybe you give polite nods. Your speech is very gender unspecific, and your main focus is your work. You keep those three things in mind when playing, then, as you feel comfortable and get more into character, maybe you'll add something, then another thing, then another, until you've got a completely original character that you feel comfortable playing.


Idea 2

Maybe the idea of acting stereotypically as a "girly" girl doesn't bother you as a player. Nothing wrong with that. You want to be prim, and proper, with a sense of style and a flare for the dramatic.

I choose Natalie Portman.

Sure, she can shoot shit up with a laser gun, but when it comes down to it, she's elegant, refined, and everything a girly girl is supposed to be.

Maybe she giggles, but only with close friends. Outside she is all business. Proper. Formal. A character that defines restrained elegance, unless she's with those who are close to her.

Start with it, then build on it.

Alternatively, for this one you might consider just tailing Missoni for like a week and taking notes. She does this the best from what I've seen.

You're a guy. You dig chicks (presumably). Break on through to the other side.

Meh. If somebody asks a legitimate question I try to give as helpful an answer as possible. It's not a whole lot of text if you take out the pictures anyway.

Edit to add:

This thread has 1 legitimate question, 3 smartass answers, and 1 legitimate answer with smartass elements. Which part is the excessive part in that scenario?

Additionally, if you don't like long winded answers, don't read threads where the question posed can't be answered in full by a cheeky PC one-liner.

Lastly, Phantasm, if you don't want to deal with getting hit on constantly, you might consider playing someone very old or haggard. That tends to quell it a bit.

Think about how shy people act, maybe. A lot of socially uncomfortable types are prone to fidgeting, avoiding eye contact, nervous giggling -- that sorta thing.

Probably won't be an ace flirter. Maybe give her a st-st-stutter 'cuz she's clumsy with words.

Don't giggle - I will giggle around friends because they know me and won't assume I'm an airhead if I do - I will generally use the grin verb around strangers

Curtsy instead of bow, UNLESS you're wearing pants - then nod your head and smile - curtsying in pants is just plain ugly

Use proper language - generally women don't swear as often and will allude to something rather than out and out saying it (which, by the way, drives my husband crazy).

Don't flirt unless you know the person, flirting to get material goods in a game is a guy thing (generally, I know there are exceptions)

Watch what you wear and try to match. Wearing a "fancy yellow blouse with lace" does NOT match a "purple velvet skirt with orange cotton insets", no matter what someone tells you

I can't speak to the empath side of things, but if you act like a lady you'll be treated like a lady

Posting on these boards doesn't have to be a detailed novel and most of us just like to see a quick summation of thoughts. And LOL @ calling people Trolls, that never gets old.

Any pointers would help.

Follow this guide:

- Use the term "Teehee!" as much as possible
- Giggle and bounce at people in response to anything
- Load yourself down with as much useless fluff as possible
- Make really stupid use of the ACT verb while healing, like (Empath pokes you three times, yells "Teehee!", and you notice your wound disappearing while hearing Empath giggle uncontrollably.)
- Be sure to skip or sashay everywhere, especially when you have severed legs
- The more injuries you have, the more bouncy and joyful you should be
- Carry around an endless supply of chocolate
