Shield types

I've been trying to understand the difference between small, medium, large shields from a pure priest perspective. I understand you get a larger DS bonus with a tower shield but you get a penalty to cmans.

Would it still be better to grab a buckler to dodge cmans since my character is a halfling? Or would it be better to throw cmans out the window and take the DS advantage for being prone?

It is based off of shield and dodge ranks. If you have more shield than dodge go with a big shield. If you have more dodge than shield go with a smaller shield. If they are even then go with medium. Since you are a pure I would imagine you do not have much dodge training so I would go with the tower.

That is how I understand it anyway...

The above is correct, though if shield=dodge, I'd suggest buckler for the average player.
