Also have a 4x, 5 description morphing maul with IMPLOSION crits. I'll post examples later. Includes multiple instant death crits.

You swing a blued steel maul at a triton combatant!
AS: +548 vs DS: +236 with AvD: +36 + d100 roll: +8 = +356
... and hit for 94 points of damage!
Right kneecap smashed into pulp.
The triton combatant is knocked to the ground!

** As you hit, the edge of your blued steel maul seems to fold inward upon itself drawing everything it touches along with it! **
... 30 points of damage!
Massive decompression causes head to erupt in an explosion of brain and bone! Messy!
The triton combatant gurgles once and goes still, a wrathful look on her face.

You swing a blued steel maul at a triton radical!
AS: +532 vs DS: +287 with AvD: +38 + d100 roll: +42 = +325
... and hit for 121 points of damage!
Knocked back several feet by blow to abdomen.

** As you hit, the edge of your blued steel maul seems to fold inward upon itself drawing everything it touches along with it! **
... 20 points of damage!
Stomach distends and the triton radical coughs up blood!
The triton radical gurgles once and goes still, a wrathful look on his face.

You swing a blued steel maul at a triton combatant!
AS: +548 vs DS: +239 with AvD: +36 + d100 roll: +50 = +395
... and hit for 119 points of damage!
Left leg ripped from socket at the knee!
A triton combatant falls to the ground grasping his mangled left leg!

** As you hit, the edge of your blued steel maul seems to fold inward upon itself drawing everything it touches along with it! **
... 25 points of damage!
Decompression causes skull to crack, blood comes from ears and nose in a spurt!
The triton combatant gurgles once and goes still, a wrathful look on his face.

$100.

You can get those vacuum crits with someone spec'd for air and 411ing a plain maul.

Yeah, but I want that one for sentimental reasons.

Out of curiosity, isn't that how the Stovvel vacuum flares looked too? Or is my memory shot? I used to have a 4x fal with similar messaging but that was something like 8 or 9 years ago and I have no logs from back then.

They looked similar if not exactly the same. They way they differed originally was the massive damage that they did. When they overhauled the flaring system though, all the awesome flares got nerfed with a few exceptions. It was very sad.

Here's the descriptions on the maul. You change them by rubbing it:

a crimson-stained blackened steel maul inset along the head with jagged bits of deathstone

an elegant dark steel maul with gold tracery along the haft

a sturdy black steel maul inlaid with vortex-incised polished black moonstones

a ceremonial golden steel maul inlaid with an onyx rose upon a field of jade

a blued steel military maul with a vortex of silver swirls inscribed along the haft

Ok, so I do remember the right thing then. Yea, those flares were fantastic. While I admittedly never owned any of the really cool items (shit timing and luck merchanting, plus multiple 1+ year gaps in my playing), that Stovvel fal was my favorite of any of the weapons I ever used.

As an aside, Stovvel's acid was that rainbow colored blob stuff, right?
