Wow (http://www.katu.com/news/34292654.html).
She wiped out her husband’s retirement account, mortgaged the house and took a lien out on the family car. Both were already paid for.
For more than two years, Spears sent tens and hundreds of thousands of dollars. Everyone she knew, including law enforcement officials, her family and bank officials, told her to stop, that it was all a scam. She persisted.
That's one hell of a spouse.

Serves her right.
It stopped being a scam when she persisted and proceeded to bankrupt her family.

Her family allowed it to happen. So it serves them right to.

Wow, such compassion.
That really, really sucks. The important part: people's lives have been ruined.
The second most important part: I thought everyone knew that "Nigeria" + "E-mail" = scam

I have about as much compassion for people that fall for such obvious scams as these as I do for the people who honestly believed Obama was a terrorist. And that after the election there was going to be a statement from the press that they had really proved he wasn't a citizen legally. Yes, I knew someone who thought exactly this.
I mean, without even having seen a Nigerian Scam letter, it's basic common sense that says: "Giving out personal banking information to random people on the internet is probably a bad idea."
Wow, such compassion.
I have no compassion for greed. She gambled and lost.
I do however feel for her husband, but perhaps he could have done more to stop her.

I don't have compassion for someone who falls for a scam AND continues to pursue it after being told that it is.
I kinda feel bad for the husband, but then, he willingly married that moron so some of that compassion went out the window too.

It's possible she & family will end up on Welfare if they are indeed bankrupt.

What if the husband mistakenly knocked up the daughter of a prominent local politician right before she was catapaulted onto the national scene and was subsequently forced to marry said daughter for fear of being castrated by the religious right?
Would you feel bad for him then?

We suffer based on our choices.
Children suffer based on the choices of their caretakers.

Children suffer based on the choices of their caretakers.
Their caretakers should have thought of that before they had children.

I read this and I just think... Cannibalism. These stories always inspire fantasies of five hundred to a thousand stab wounds in a single corpse. Some people are really unique enough in their actions that it makes me wonder what their cooked flesh would taste like.

Cash or tournaments or both?
Almost always cash. Small games. $5/$10 tables maximum, but usually just $1/$2. I don't really play. I just grind it. 15-20 hours at a table will get me between $300-$1000 bucks usually.
I do play in an occasional tournament, but again, nothing big money. I prefer to be able to sit in a cash game and not be forced into a certain style of play by the blinds.

Well, I only started doing it full time about a year and a half ago. Before that I played pretty regularly, but I still had a job.
And yeah, 99% of the time I'm playing No Limit Hold 'em. Once in a blue moon I'll play Stud, Omaha, or Pineapple though. Not for money really, but for fun.

What the hell kind of soliciting are you doing? This is a gaming forum. Have some WoW-related siglinks or discount software/games/etc. Man, if that bitch didn't lose $400k to the Nigerian inheritance scam last week I'd be so bold as to say you were wasting your time.

To be fair, I have actually been debating lately whether or not I want to go into training for a sprint triathlon.

Yeah, I've sort of been wondering if jogging and walking cardio + weights that I've been doing would have an effect on the fast twitch muscles for the sole purpose of sprinting. I was always a bullet, but I haven't done any prolonged sprints for a few years. Should probably hit the field.

Taj Mahal in Atlantic City 95% of the time. If I win early and have to stand (You've gotta wait 2 hours to sit back down if you stand from a table. I don't ever keep more than 600 bucks on the table at any time), then I'll go to Caesar's next door or Borgatta if I'm just in an odd mood.
The Taj has the best convention center, and it's right next to the poker room, so you get a lot more fish in business suits with lots of cash to lose fast during conventions. They're easier to spot, at any rate.
If you're ever around AC when I'm back in Jersey, let me know. I have like $800 worth of Trump comps that are just going to go to waste. I'm sure they expire at some point.

Definitely. I try to head down there a few times a month and now Im dating a girl who lives in Jersey I plan on increasing the frequency of my trips. Im more of a showboat guy myself but thats generally because they have lower table limits on craps and blackjack and im only going with $100-200. Been itching to get back to the poker tables though. Ive got a few comped rooms and meals through the caesers line of casinos.
Moist Happenings
11-20-2008, 11:35 PM
Showboat's definitely the place to be for other games. Tropicana isn't bad, but it's harder to find the low limit tables.
I don't play anything but poker personally, but my old roommate used to search for the low money table games. Taj has 'em occasionally, but most of the time the minimum you're gonna find is $15 bucks.
But yeah, when I'm back in Jersey let me know. I can get you a double room at the Taj for $60 bucks a night and just comp it off.
Edit to add:
Actually my comps work at any of the three Trump Casinos in the city. I just don't know if I can get the poker rate on rooms at the other two.

Yeah my buddy and I always go to Showboat because of the low limit tables and because you can specify beer preference as opposed to many casinos that just bring you whatever they have. I do love the poker rooms at the Taj, if I am going just to play poker thats where we go. Never thought about it being the hot spot for fish because of the convention center but thats a good point.
Just out of curiosity, how much do you normally sit down with?

I'm gonna fap again as soon as I finish this post.

It depends on the table. If I sit a table that's clearly got a lot of really inexperienced players I'll sit with $300 on a $1/$2 blind (the maximum). If I sit with regulars I'm usually in for $100, and we tend not to challenge each other too much.
More often than not these days I'll just sit with $300 because my roll's a decent size and I trust myself not to make stupid plays.
