You swing a perfect steel mattock at a krag yeti!
AS: +451 vs DS: +413 with AvD: +41 + d100 roll: +22 = +101
... and hit for 1 point of damage!
Love tap upside the krag yeti's head!

You feint left, then right, then crack the krag yeti across the head!

The krag yeti drops to the ground!

The krag yeti wobbles around on the ground.
... 30 points of damage!
Mighty swing separates head from shoulders.

[You have 8 kills remaining.]
[You have earned 90 prestige points.]
The krag yeti shudders once before it finally goes still

I had no idea that a KO Flare could cause instant death like that...first time I've ever seen it. They usually just cause minor damage to a limb or chest from them falling over

nice. I had a discussion earlier today about knockout flares. Can you let me know how often your weapon flares? thanks

Nice! Rank 6 crush damage on a weapon flare.

Man! I wanted KO flares on my maul.

I think they flare about once in every 10 head shots, on average...of course, that's not an exact number because I often kill things in 1 shot with that mattock. I'd have to go into Troll Kings and hit 'em in the head about 100 times, see if it flares 10 times total.

And yeah, KO flares on a big weapon isn't overkill, it's insurance

Like having a backup parachute

or the Mysterious Stranger in Fallout 3

or a chainsaw on a fully automatic assault rifle...

That's a great mental image.

You hit it in the head, it fell and twitched so hard its head flew off.

I've posted this before. Knock-out flares only flare when you hit head or eye. They have a greater chance of flaring due to that. The flare is very similiar to unbalance. If I had to guess the rate of flaring, I'd say 1 in 3ish.

What are you talking about?

That's a crush flare right there, not an unbalance flare.

The unbalance table can't have crush criticals?

I had a KO flaring maul from the last EG. It was ok, but wasn't really worth it.

Assuming it's always a crush crit when you hit the head and assuming flares from crits have a completely random distribution then your chances of killing a creature from the crit is pretty awesome.
