I wasn't sure where to ask this but I suppose here is fine.

It's about the giftbox enhancives that we got a few years back. Does anyone remember what the ranger one was?

An armband.

It was a bracer of some sort. Don't remember the look though. Mine crumbled in a week, darn it.

Bracer with +5 dex, +5 int.

Yeah, that. Armband's for someone else.

They don't crumble, do they?

I thought they just ran outta charges.

Hard to see how it would crumble in a week. They had innumerable charges out of the box, were not supposed to crumble, and mine lasted well over a year of constant use before it ran out of charges. Still have mine and use it to this day.

Maybe it didn't crumble, but it did run out the first week. I got it the second or third day I started playing gemstone. A friend told me to do an assist as it was supposed to last a very long time but I was told something along the lines that it had worked as it was meant to work. I think level may have had something to do with it running out, but I don't really know. I've avoided all the new enhancives as I just don't trust them to work any longer.

There was a bug when they were first released that caused them to crumble quickly. I'm pretty sure they were re-issued to those who had it crumbled. I remember a NEWS item stating that all existing giftbox items were given even more charges to compensate for those lost.

Well bummer. Guess it's much too late to have it reissued now. So the new enhancives really do last a reasonable amount of time for everyone now?

Crumble =! deplete. You're being a bit confusing there.

Plus, giftbox enhancives (as well as all others) can be recharged using bounty points. Price depends on the enhancive.

Whether worth it or not depends on how much you use them, what kind/type, how many charges, and how smart you are about their use.

I really think it did crumble, but it's been so long ago I could be wrong. I do know enhancives can be recharged but it just seems too much of a hassle for me personally, considering the only one I used lasted such a short time.

Anyone remember what it looked like? My locker characters usually hold 3 backpacks plus the locker and I'm not organized at all. ::blush:: I had a time when I was into collecting bracers for my archers. However, if no one knows what they looked like, this gives me an idea where to start! I think I didn't put it on my ranger at the time because it didn't match her outfit. Yes, I'm picky. Style before enhancive abilities. Heh. I don't know why I kept thinking boots. Did someone get boots? I remember the bard and the wizard item and like someone said, some profession got an armband. Anyway, thanks for the info!

I typically didn't touch enchancives but I started using a ranged crown on my archer simply because it didn't crumble. It only had "as much as a giantman could count" so I expected it to last a few days at most. It has been almost like 2-3 months and still going.

I've really revised my opinion on them.

That's weird, my sorc got the same fetish but mine was +5 to both WIS and AUR. Still have mine too.

I altered my cleric giftbox item from a neckworn talisman I think.

Sorcerers received a fetish. Mine is a grisly spider leg fetish.

They're +5 to the two main stats, for any class. Gives a nice little boost to CS for me- I can always tell as soon as it runs out. Iirc, removing it, SORT AUTO HEAD, and randomly over time would determine whether it would lose a charge.

Rogues got the boots. They add +5 AGI, +5 DEX and +10 Health.

I've since altered mine but my ranger enhancive was originally "a simple leather bracer".

Sorting doesn't have a chance to take a charge anymore. Was changed a while ago.

Keep in mind the descriptor changes for each person, so you're looking for an [adjective] leather bracer.

Ok. I was wondering why I'd leave a simple leather bracer off my ranger. That would have worked. I suppose my descriptor was something that just didn't fit her at the time. Thanks again.

Yep. For clerics the change was based on your convert (if any). Mine was Kai, so I had a Kai talisman or something-ish.

Not just aloeas. I can't remember what Nilandia got, but another character got a calamia fruit talisman.
