I want a program to stop them on start-up.
My objective: Never have any processes running unless I tell them to run.

Click start, click run, type msconfig. Select the Selective start up option then click the start up tab, and uncheck what you don't want starting up.

A lot of those programs on that list ARE the processes your computer starts up with.

You can turn off the services under the services tab also. And if you know how, you can edit your regestry.

Ah, services. Now that's useful.
