Anyone wanna tell me what this thing does? Had a bard sing it at 3x, damage weighted, but I can't find out how much weighting, a warrior I took it to said it can't be assessed because of the stunning skull attached to it.
Anyone know the weighting?

Here are a few examples:
You swing a heavy glaes longsword at a hunter troll!
AS: +305 vs DS: +74 with AvD: +25 + d100 roll: +32 = +288
... and hit for 52 points of damage!
Smooth slash to the hunter troll's hip!
Nice crunching sound.
Roundtime: 5 sec.
You swing a heavy glaes longsword at a three-toed tegu!
AS: +305 vs DS: +199 with AvD: +37 + d100 roll: +87 = +230
... and hit for 40 points of damage!
Nice puncture to the back, just grazed the spine!
You swing a heavy glaes longsword at a three-toed tegu!
AS: +305 vs DS: +164 with AvD: +37 + d100 roll: +74 = +252
... and hit for 44 points of damage!
Beautiful head shot!
That ear will be missed!
The three-toed tegu is stunned!

AS: +305 vs DS: +131 with AvD: +37 + d100 roll: +19 = +230
... and hit for 53 points of damage!
Flesh ripped from back, muscles exposed.
Tegus seemed to have plate for skin, the trolls have chain hauberk, not ambushing.

Damage weighting doesn't always kick in all the way (nowadays). Just so you know.

That doesn't make any sense.
i believe what hes saying is its randomized where as if you had heavily damage weighted in gs3 and you did +10 on every hit you wont do +10 on every this in gs4

Damage weighting will range in its effectiveness like crit weighting. If it has a maximum damage weighting of 30, it'll vary between 1 and 30 (ususally being at the higher end).

It's funny you say that, because some guy (GILCHRISTR, for those keeping score at home) has been posting on the official boards that crit weighting is in fact not random, and he's got pretty good reasoning. However, I am absolutely 100% positive that damage weighting does not always kick in all the way, as I hunted with a silver-hilted black falchion (somewhat/decent damage weighted) and many times saw 1, 2, or 3 total damage done.
In conclusion, Bob can believe whatever he wants, but I'm still right. :saint:

That makes sense, and is not proof. Damage weighting has always worked like that.
A +40 weighted weapon isn't going to give you 40 damage on a 101 endroll, and hasn't for years. A 110 or so, however, would give you the extra weighting.

The crit weighting formular on the boards is still random, just not as random as we initially expected. For example, I think there is a randomization of about three or four crit levels, so a hit which could cause a rank 9 hit could be randomized down to 6, 7 or 8. I do not think it cannot go above (ie, a rank 7 base crit cannot be randomized to 8 or 9).

Correct, the final crit ranking is still random (but it can go up one rank). However, the weighting itself is supposed to constant.

The crit weighting formula I thought was you calculate it like before (so if you could get a rank 9) to your max rank, and then the actual crit could be anywhere between max/2 and max.
So, +4 is what, somewhat damage weighted?

You're backwards. Scale goes somewhat then decent so that broadsword is somewhat.

Well it's whatever the fuck is before somewhat.
Fairly I think. I don't know this stuff, I look it up beforehand, and I was too lazy.
And it's a longsword, not a broadsword.
