There is nothing I like about this Hollywood project

Apparently, they're going to remake The Karate Kid.

My problems with this are threefold -

1. The original movie was so bad that it was awesome. Any attempt at a remake will result in painfully awkward, and not in a funny way like the 80s cult classic.

2. You can't replace Pat Morita. I don't care who they get to play Mr. Miyagi, he won't be able to do the role justice. The almost palpable sexual tension between Daniel-san and Mr. Miyagi was hilarious.

3. I am not a huge fan of Will Smith's kid. He looks like a little douche bag, and I thought he was terrible in Pursuit of Happyness.

Pushing for it as a vehicle for his son, possibly. Seems an idea doomed to failure. If the movie is even as good as 3 Ninjas or any of the 3 Ninjas sequels, I'll be surprised.

Yeah, i'm pretty sure that's why, at least according to what I read. And I dunno if I should be admitting this but I totally liked 3 Ninjas when it came out. I was young. :x

That's the only reason I can think of why a remake would be made. Also make no mistake, this remake will make boatloads of cash.

This wont be something that I'll watch, in any format.

It was cool back in the 80's when I was a teenager. That was then, this is now. Karate Kid is not timeless in that respect.
