I am going to use Fixskills and want to make sure I fix everything that needs to be fixed. At level 25 these are my skills:

My main goal is hunting using CS based spells, using transference to teleport around, eventually using spirit guide to increase my teleporting powers, using scrolls to spells myself up, skinning and heal well enough that I don't hinder a group or myself. I use a runestaff and wear double leather. I'm not exactly sure what I need to change to make the above items most effective and why..... so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Also, perhaps I did not word my original post correctly. The skills shown are my current skills. I'm asking what I should change to achieve what I posted was important. Again thank you all for any information you can provide.

You don't want it; Phantasm lies. Especially when you can't even cast Fire Spirit.

But that's the main thing; fire spirit is essentially an empath's only AE attack. There's also 1110 which has a fantastic DF, along with additional cycles of CS damage. 1106 is still enough to rip through just about anything you want to kill though, with 1115 whacking the undead in your way.

Oh, also; get rid of most of those lores and focus on a few of them instead. You're too spread out. If you're going to hunt, pump Manipulation lore for shattering fun times. You'll probably also want to pump Empath spells.

And why the hell do you have 54 ranks of PF?!

Spell aiming is not mana efficient, nor worth it until cap. And only then, to deal with Griffins and Elementals. Also, I would have NO lores until cap; its not worth it IMO; get that CS nasty and just ward shit to death.

Here is what I'd do for optimal hunting, you really only need to be bone shattering shit:


8 ranks of armor
1x shield
1x brawling
1x PF
1x perception
40 ranks AS
25 ranks MIU
1x HP
1x MMC
24 ranks of SMC
20 ranks of climbing
(50 ranks of swimming for Nelemar one day you can hold off on training this)

Dump all the rest of your ranks into spells. I'd go Empath/100's/200's, finishing 225/130 ASAP. Excessive 100's ranks makes 102 nice. 67/67/160 (100/200/1100) is where I am stopping.

1x PF = necessary for an empath; its fucking cheap and has a ton of benefits. I'm going to 3x eventually. Helps against CM's, criticals, health generation, etc.

I'd strongly suggest not using a runestaff as soon as possible, they're horrible and open handed casting is extremely deadly and provides better DS and no worrying about disarm.

Meh. necessary is a stretch, I'd put this at a post cap goal. 1x is easy, I'd agree. 2x is excessive for now.

I would tend to agree here. 1110 is also awesome. I only gave my suggestions based on the fact that he said he wanted to use CS spells.

No, hp should be = to level, but not over level because then it becomes 1 mana/point

Are you sure about that? Offensively they are considered two-handed weapons (staff).

Edit: Belnia confirmed that you do get the open handed casting bonus from using a runestaff; apologies. Shield is still drastically better in the long run.

Also, 1x PF is necessary IMO -- the gains for the costs are extreme. Its negligible to 1x from a training points perspective.

I'll concede that wands are useful, but I think that staying true with 2x spell aiming is going to drastically reduce your CS and result in you using more mana in the long run; again maybe there is a point you want to dump the spell aiming.

My empath is 28 and does fine with just 1x spell Aiming if someone wanted to do that, I run out of mana too often so use wands alot. I'm gonna bump it up to 2x or closer to now that I'm done training in minor/manor spirtual circles.

Thank you all for the great advice! So lets say I decide I want to use wands and I go that route as well. Do empaths use CS based wands or AS based wands?

You can use both. But if you want to use the AS based wands you'll need to train in spell aiming.

I personally used twisted and bone wands to start of with cause they were easier to use with less MIU training,especially when weighed down. Then once I had enough training not to stun myself with elemental/bolt wands, I started using those too.

Nothing you train in, other than spell ranks, affects CS in any way.

Edit: Well, I suppose if you train in other things, you're not using those points to train in extra spell ranks, thereby indirectly lowering your potential CS. But nothing physically lowers CS.

You guys are awesome! Here is what I ended up with at lvl 26 - I do have to say I miss the extra 20 mana as I reduced my harness power points but other than that I love me!

With summoning lore you can use 106 to auto hide with 0 hard RT.

I mean I suppose you could cast it and since it provides a bonus to hiding, you can just hide while fogged, then when it dissipates it won't matter. Just seems a bit excessive, but at least you could spend points on HP or more spells than hiding. :shrug:

Urgoyle uses the spirit fog hide a lot. It worked well for him in pennant chase too.. looks useful but I don't want that lore just yet.
