Archery, Voln Fu, and ambush

So, I'm a fledgling ranger, hoping to reach my 10th train today. My question for people as a whole is if ambush is needed as an archer/fu-er. I'l be putting my opponent on the ground, hopefully, so should I aim after that? And what level will I see aiming actually be effective?

My fu/archer ranger, at 56, has zero ambush training. I tear things up no problem. I don't hide either.

One of the things that makes the archer/brawler such a powerful build is the ability to hunt things way over level by killing them with a single shot to the eye - sans ambush training.
