They've been sneaking into the rogue's guild for lessons.
Honestly though, I don't know why any of that happens (shy of uber "you trip over your feet and stab yourself in the throat" fumble).

You say, "You'd wake it up, when you hit it.."
You say, "How do i wake it up, before my weapon strikes..."
>chat to jespin yeah give me a few mins
You focus on transmitting your thought.
Aulis says, "But attacking it you're being loud enough with the attack itself that it wakes the creature up."
?
You ask, "What's loud about swinging a weapon?"
>
Aulis says, "Lots of possibilities."
You ask, "Such as?"
You say, "In RL, i've hit alot of friends while sleeping.."
Aulis says, "Movement of the feet to get close enough to hit it, for one."
>
You say, "Nothing wakes them up right before the attack.."
>
You feel fully energetic again.
>
Aulis asks, "Have you ever tried to get close to someone sleeping and they sleep so lightly they hear you before you get close enough though?"
You say, "According to the spell."

explain to me, how swinging a golf club at a ball
is the same as swinging a maul, and a 400 pound TITAN?

I don't think it is. You asked for explanation of how it could happen, I gave the best I could come up, along with stating I didn't think it was right that it happened.
Were you threatening him or trying to get him to respond to you by telling him you were going to post on the officials, because you told him about 4x.
Just wondering, not hating.

No, because I thought his reason was bullshit, and I was trying to end the conversation, and get other opinions.
and i was in the middle of a hunt :)
and even with the RP aspect the GM mentioned, you can sleep/stomp your feet/yell at a mob, and it doesn't wake them up...

Heh, yeah noticed, you kept running from the shamblers.

Why is his reason bullshit? Because you don't agree with it?
Some of the hunting mechanics don't "make sense" on general principle. Why would you be able to always miss something just because it's of a higher level, even when it ends up stunned or lying down?
Creatures do have better senses than the rest of us, so there's nothing saying that something with heightened senses and/or light sleepers can't hear you coming before you actually strike.
You fumbled. BFD.

Yes, I thought his reason was bullshit, and that's my opinion.
His reason could be how to explain things, but it still makes no sense to me
and I've seen sleeping players avoid attacks..

This doesn't effect how i'm playing a bard, I just wanted to know how a sleeping critter saw an incoming attack

The flip-side to the GM's assessment is that this isn't an ordinary sleep. It's magically induced, therefore I would think the effects would not allow whatever it is that's asleep to "hear" anything. What good is a magic sleep spell that doesn't put something to sleep and keep it that way?

Um, is Aulis a GM or a GH? Because whatever a GH says isn't exactly official in terms of this type of a question.

Yeah, GH's aren't there to explain/justify game mechanics to you.

it doesn't matter, they wont explain it in a way that makes sense. because i had such a beef i asked on the officials different situation but still made no sense. my problem was dying in the tower and decaying still impregnated by a moulis after a decay....now if it wasn't a pain in the ass enough decaying and dealing with deaths sting but i had to go outside the gates to wait to die again. so by the messaging it says your body decays into compost...well how the fuck do you still have a moulis in you?
now one can argue it goes with the clothing system with death that they had to change because of "body snatchers" back in the day but the GMs only explained it was magic...thats all so i knew at that point if there is any bullshit in a mechanic as such, they wont change or back up reasoning for the way it is

Q. How come something asleep can dodge you sometimes?
A. Because it's a game.
Q. Why aren't the townspeople teaching their children not to run away, instead counting on the Adventurer's guild to just find the masses that run off to the most dangerous places in Elanthia?
A. Because it's a game.
Q. How come I can carry 5 million pounds of silvers and still walk, provided someone gave them to me while I was standing up?
A. Because it's a game.
Q. How come I never have to pee, eat, or drink?
A. Because it's a game.
Are you getting the general idea of the point I'm trying to make yet? I can expand the list.

LOL. Way to run off and hide when you don't agree with valid reasons. You do realize you're playing a FANTASY GAME, right?

I don't actually think anyone has made a valid in-game reason why something that is asleep or stunned should be able to dodge an attack from a skilled character...but, as has been pointed out sufficiently, it's just a game so there doesn't have to be a valid reason.

Agreed, yes to everyone that says it's just a game. It's also just a game that many of us have been playing for years, god I don't even want to think about it in terms of hours. Spent thousands of dollars playing, made sacrifices to play just a game. Please forgive me if I tend to lost in the game, especially when hunting and get pissed when something stupid like a limbless stunned critter evades my ambush and it jerks me back to my fucked up reality.
Anyone that does not understand where I'm coming from don't bother responding, you get it or you don't.
