There is freaking ice falling from the sky. There is freaking ice all over the roads, and beginning to form on the freaking power lines! I am sitting here in my warm house with my warm computer waiting for the freaking power to go out!
I HATE Ice!
HarmNone hates ice...yup

I agree totally. Ice, snow, short days... winter sucks. This one especially. Damned global warming. It's supposed to get warmer.

The roads are sheets of ice here right now due to the snow we got all last night and today. Any time now we're supposed to get another couple inches of sleet/freezing rain. Yay.. and I get to work in the morning!
HarmNone
01-26-2004, 11:32 PM
Eew. Be careful, Snapp. I do not know about where you are, but here people drive like maniacs. They have no idea what to do when the roads are iced. Scary! :(
HarmNone will stay in, if she can

I'm guessing Snapp is around Maryland? Cause that's where it's been snowing and heading my way in NY. We're due for up to another foot of snow. And that's on top of the sheet of ice still there from 2 weeks ago.

Yeah, Raven. We started icing late yesterday afternoon, so what is coming down now has a nice base to which to add itself. Tomorrow morning should be just peachy! NOT!
HarmNone hopes people just stay the hell home

I'm in Delaware. :( On the border of Maryland & PA.. Ice stinks! And Delaware drivers FREAK out over it. I don't know how you handle all that Raven, I'd go nuts.

This has been a bad winter. It's usually not this cold and icy/snowy. And people say relaxing environmental laws won't hurt anything. Well, /some/ people say that.

For sure, Raven. We have had some really odd weather the past couple of years. We'd been in draught for the past five or so years. Last year, we made up for it all, plus some. I thought we would all grow gills.
The winter has been off-again-on-again. Temps in the 60's one day plummet to the 30's the next. It's weird!

Here in SE PA we're getting another 6 inches of snow tomorrow into wednesday, and some ice.. I'm gonna be off from class so I'm happy, get to make some money working with my Uncle, I need it.
I am just waiting for our foot or more of snow, I love huge snow falls (lucky NY getting like a foot this wednesday)

Thought this was a thread about Icedraggon. I don't mind the ice too much. Work put me up in a $200 a night hotel room for a conference this week that I could normally drive to. So i don't mind the ice.

Heh right now everything near me is shut down cause of the ice. The roads are a disaster, and I am in NC. They don't know what to do when this kinda stuff happens... its almost comical.

I'm from WNY, so anything that Boston throws at me makes me laugh because it's like a little kid trying to beat up the proven bully in the schoolyard. There was a cold snap the other week, but all water (or ice) under the bridge now. My mother called (from Buffalo) and claimed she had to scrape an inch of ice off her car. Meanwhile, it's a tropical 16 degrees here, with a wind chill of 4. Compared to the -20s we had a week ago, it's not bad.
As to being closed - Buffalo never closes, Boston rarely does. I remember going back for Christmas, the plows are so on top of things there's no chance of even hoping for a snow day.
Today was the first day my hair didn't freeze on the way from my home to my car. And my car's not far away.
As for the person from NC....my best friend's parents moved to New Bern, NC, and their first winter, they got about an inch of snow, and the whole place shut down....and they laughed, and were the only ones on the street that day. NC and anyone who can't handle snow make me laugh.
Of course, I'd probably piss myself in a hurricane or tornado. Give me windchills in the -30s and blizzard conditions any day of the week!

The strange weather is probably directly related to the changes we have made in the Earth's atmosphere. Relaxing enviromental laws concerning the air would probably make the weather even more unstable. As a matter of fact, our 'additions' to our air supply are probably more likely to cause an ICE AGE than anything else, thanks.

Everyone here is anxiously awaiting the snow. I hope it never comes. I hate driving in snow!
And yeah I'm the instigator. I'm the one who couldn't resist a hot, sweaty man in tights. I missed him this last time, but I refuse to let that happen again.

I live 10 miles away from work. I had to be at work at 8:30. I left at 8 AM. It took me AN HOUR AND FORTY MINUTES to get to work.......because STUPID PEOPLE DON'T KNOW HOW TO DRIVE IN THE SNOW!

But at least my 10:30 meeting was canceled, and I was stuck behind a car for an hour whose license plate was "Imbatman", which provoked an interesting internal dialogue of how good a disguise that would be if he really was Batman.
Otherwise I think I woulda gone postal.

No, Boston....the weather isn't even that bad, there's just enough snow to make it slick, but the assholes on the Pike don't slow down from their 85 mph for even the 2 inches we got, and then they spin out and cause like 27 car accidents.
Maybe it wasn't 27 cars, but whatever the fuck it was, I only got into work at 9:40, more than an hour late.
