Okay, so it's finally irritated me enough to ask for help outside of PMs. I can't give others rep! I click on the scales and it just reloads the page and takes me back up to the top.

Without knowing specifically what the issue is, I would suggest trying two things.

First, go to Tools -> Internet Options -> Security (I think security. Not positive. I use Mozilla), and turn your security level as low as possible, then try to rep someone. Keep in mind that with security level set to low, some pages that otherwise wouldn't work will, but you will also open yourself up to some nasty websites that can put shit on your computer you don't want there without warning.

Second, if that doesn't work, download a copy of firefox and see if it makes a difference.

Also windows firewall. I know I harp on that a lot and I know it technically does absolutely nothing that should hinder this, but it does a lot of crazy, stupid shit that fucks up your connectivity. Shut the thing off. Any virus that can do any manner of harm to your computer knows how to circumvent it anyway. You don't lose anything by shutting it off, and you have the potential for a lot fewer headaches.

http://vault.error-403.net/files/1/Public/emotes/gf-eng101.gif In the meantime you can simply try opening the link referenced by the scales in another tab. You can fuck with rep that way.

edit: Check to see if you have Javascript enabled, or if something is blocking javascript from executing. (As http://forum.gsplayers.com/clientscript/vbulletin_ajax_reputation.js is what gives you that handy popup.)

Very good point. Definitely make sure on the javascript being enabled too, but make sure you do both that and the security thing. The security thing can disable javascript files even if they're enabled if it's set too high.

If you do both and it works out though, you might consider bumping your security level back up to see if you can get away with just the one. Leaves you a little more protected for those dumb websites.

Using Firefox; it just opens the thread again to the same page when I open the scales link in a new tab; Javascript is enabled; security was set to the lowest and nuffin'.

I swear I didn't just ask this out of the blue without trying to solve it myself.

Meh. Sometimes the simplest answers get overlooked, especially if you know your way around a computer. That's the only reason I mention 'em.

Odd. When I middle-click the link to open it in a new tab I get taken to reputation.php. Showthread.php doesn't reload.
