anyone else hear of more found besides 1 troll claw?

If not thats really lame they advertise them and only put out 1 really weak one.

I'm sure its not from a lack of digging.

I would have thought there would have been a couple of more. That is sad if it is the only one.

i think what was said, was chances of pulling a shadow death weapon are at something like .0001% or some shit?

did anyone really think there would be more than 1 or 2?

1 troll claw?

I'd expect 3 to 5 minimum. Max 10 maybe.

Actually I did. Did you see the numbers on how many coins that area took in? That is a whole shit load of disappointed people.

Sorry for not responding to this question earlier! I've unexpectedly had to be out of town and won't be home until early next week. However, for you, I am suffering through logging in to the game via the Wizard FE <shudder>, and here is the DIRT on the digging game:

So far, you've spent nearly 260 million silvers on shovels and have dug over 575,000 holes. One room is overwhelmingly the most popular room for digging, having been ravaged 10,000 times more than any other room, and one room has had about 10,000 fewer digs than any other. (Interestingly, the same rooms were most/least popular in plat as well.)

Still in the prize hoppers are shade lizards, ShadowDeath weapons, magic message boxes, scripted prayer beads, writeable books, highly scripted runestaffs (Xojium's if you remember from the old EG), blade fans, mechanical quivers, scrying crystals, metallic gowns, Yfane (formerly Nalea) gowns, scripted and/or flaring weapons of various flavors, and there's always the chance to get a 6x weapon out of the automated prize generator (separate from the hopper that GMs fill with goodies).

~Sirina

Thats about 130,000 shovels. And the noteworthy items are what? 10 shadow-skinks, 1 shadowdeath weapon?

I've personally blown through 5m in shovels and I got one of the duplicate metallic gowns, one altered longcloak that has the same verbs as from a shop at EG, and some kind of tome. Painfully lame. If I had known the odds of pulling something nifty were 1 in 6500 shovels I would've stayed away.

Just because they haven't been found doesn't mean they weren't released. The digging game uses a complex randomized equation to figure out whether or not you get something good. It's not like the game automatically ensures that everything in it ends up dug up.

For 260 mil and 1 find I think they should have up'd the odds.

And those numbers were posted last Thursday. I know yesterday the graveyard was packed with folks. So the numbers have increased.

What they didn't mention on the officials was out of the 575k plus boxes pulled, 400k plus more than likely contained incense.

I know i dropped over 2 mil in the graveyard. Yes there were some really nice gems. I heard of some folks finding some armor, some basic ora and vultite weapons, and some skinks. But 1 lame shadow weapon found early in the week? Please.

I too thought there would be at most 2 or 3 and after seeing number of folks dig there for atleast a week, a second one should have been uncovered.

Trick orTreating produced nicer items than digging. And not only was it FREE you got some exp from it. Sure there is a cool down. So go buy 40k to 50k worth of shovels then return to knock on doors.

Peace

I would but I gave her to Luna for a birthday gift :)

Fare thee well Autumn. I hope she doesn't do any twisted experiments on it.

Better odds at finding high end items? This isn't Platinum, you know.

See, here's the rub, this is their once a year silver sink.

Instead of making one constantly in game (e.g., allowing to recharge items via coins), they choose to let people have high hopes and fuck them over.

GOOD MARKETING, NO?!

This is like a less cool version of having a gambling addiction.

Umm; and Wizard FE <shudder> comma?! More like, Wizard FE <latch door, kneel, act gently carresses the manwang with her slit tongue, the eyes of an ocelot giving her 10x fellatio Elven cat-like prowess>

I don't know where I was going with that one. Besides All. The. Way.

Supposedly there's a Shadowdeath Dagger and Rapier left in the digging game, if anybody cares.

After the Epic Fail that was this years EG, next year better damn well be free. All I'm going to say on the point.

Everyone I have spoken to had a lot of fun at the event. I thought it was a blast. Sorry to hear you are so butt-hurt over the event.

I've never been in love with EG and this year certainly didn't change my mind but I didn't think it was a failure.

There were a number of areas that could use improvements/changes but I'll consider the fact that they've lost so many senior GMs this year and attribute it to the new crop they've got learning.

People that won skink(s) seemed to have a much funner time.

this is actually why i prefered the tiered events, to ensure that i atleast come out with a minimum of goodness. because i am not willing to go waaaay out of my way to find merchants and what not. and by way out of my way i mean taking off of work, following belnia around, joining the ebon gate chat room, forsaking a lot of sleep and really nice snatch.

i didn't get much work done or win anything, and i took both of my accounts just for shits and giggles.

but it wasn't a total loss this year, though i would have to say without the maul and lance glyphs, it would have been a big bucket of fail for me.

Platinum only had 3 SD weapons in digging and 4 shade-skinks. I believe 10 shade-skinks were released for the entire festival for us with digging/raffles.

No offense Mario but there is like what? 30? maybe 50 tops in plat? so the chance of someone finding/getting something is way better. I know you guys pay more per month for it but still it's a PAY event. So while I had fun did some shopping and won nothing neat (via raffle or merchant) I can see why people are pissed.

Hell I spent about 10 mill on digging and found what 7 of those mithglin dresses, about 5 weapons, nothing over x4 and nothing weighted or enhacive (current projects for my wizard so maybe I can make something off of them) three had flares but fire, lightning, and ice? coulda got that done at frontier days for alot less then I spent digging.

I still keep hoping that with the 20 year anniversary they seem so proud of coming up that they do something to make it worthwhile for everyone.

But I really doubt it

You didn't hear? They instituted a temp-only policy for all weighting/padding.

Happy 20th, Simu!

We had over 80 tickets sold. One thing to remember is we have droppage and things get lost a lot. We also have a high rate of people coming over, trying Platinum, winning a few things and leaving the game for good.

So while it seems "fair" to per capita Platinum because we are about 1/6th the size of Prime, we also lose a lot.

Kitsun
11-13-2008, 03:39 AM
I would be a lot more bitter about the temp padding thing but my armor is still padded from February 2006 Wavedancer run. I hunt regularly in it. I've probably gained 4-5m exp in it since then.

Senglent
11-13-2008, 04:08 AM
The temp crap is just that crap. I think just about (sure I can guess on a couple who disagree) everyone would agree that it was one of the worst policies they have taken up.

And as far as the droppage and one timers Mario Hell thats why you guys see more nice things, they get lost.

The Ponzzz

But we really don't see more nice things. Since last year, we have been getting portion controlled.

This is Simu sacrificing fun at the altar of what they consider "game balance."

It's lame any way you cut it.

The alternative would be one person per event (maybe) getting padding on decent armor.

So yeah, I'll take lots of people getting temporary padding on their armor over one person getting permanent armor. But that's just me.

Tolwynn
11-13-2008, 09:07 AM
Out of curiosity, how many chances (if any) were there to get permanent padding on armor? There were a number of opportunities to get enchants up to 8x on armor or weapons, as well as permanent weighting on weapons. I wonder why the disparity was there.

m444w
11-13-2008, 10:39 AM
you can't disarm armor. There is still a "chance" for weapon loss in Prime. But no real feasible way for armor loss.

Tolwynn
11-13-2008, 10:52 AM
And yet there were chances to take armor to 8x, as well as chances for permanent flaring and spiking of armor. Interesting that armor padding was the one thing out of every possible service that was most throttled back on.
