View Full Version : a sanguine shade-skink

a sanguine shade-skink
Twitching and shuddering at odd intervals, the tiny creature appears to be little more than a shadow lent feeble substance. Its sanguine-cored form wavers like a candle's flame, but the shade-skink maintains a rough lizard shape augmented by odd, elongated limbs. Each of the six tendril-like legs spreads into a trio of tiny black talons. Twin pinpoints of crimson luminescence shine from where the creature's eyes ought to be.

>rub shade-skink
You caress the sanguine shade-skink's spine, gently so as not to harm the fragile reptilian shape. A momentary burst of opalescence spreads along the creature's back in response to your touch before segueing into uniform darkness.

>turn my shade
You flip the sanguine shade-skink over on your palm. The little shadow creature struggles for a few moments like an overturned bug before its elongated limbs retract into its body and sprout anew from its underside. Rotating freely on the shade-skink's torso, its head and tail simply flip themselves over so the little beast is standing once again. It winks a crimson eye at you.

>prod my shade
The shade-skink digs its tiny talons into the skin of your finger as you attempt to prod it in the belly.

>pull my shade
As you pull on the sanguine shade-skink's tail, it loses substance! Your fingers slip into the shadows that compose the creature, chilling the offending digits to the bone.

>pet my shade
You gently probe the body of the sanguine shade-skink. As your fingers press against its oily-slick skin, tiny aurorae ripple outward from the point of contact. They limn the nearby flesh in mother-of-pearl hues that are slow to fade.

>lick my shad
Abruptly, you decide to lick your shade-skink. A taste of rot and charred oil washes across your tongue.

>tap my shade
You tap your sanguine shade-skink on its tiny shoulder, soliciting a wave of pastel hues that echoes along the length of its body before fading into shadow. The creature's crimson eyes narrow in what appears to be irritation.

>wear shade
You grip your sanguine shade-skink carefully about its neck and hold the creature over your other arm. The shade-skink seems to sense what is about to happen, and it begins to twitch and quiver with terror. Its keening cries bite at your mind like daggers as you lower it into your skin. Instead of contacting your flesh like a solid being ought to, the shade-skink sublimates into a slick, chill mist that bites into your waiting flesh. You feel something shift beneath your skin and rub at it, swiftly warming the area. As you withdraw your hand, you note with satisfaction that the lizard has metamorphosed into a vague lizard-shaped mark on your arm.

>remove mark
Your lizard-shaped mark takes on the form of a small, shadowy creature as it oozes into your free hand.

---

You can also prod it and rub and poke it while it's in mark form, and it drains blood from you and moves around. There may be more actions, these are just off the top of my head. There are a lot of idle scripts for it too if you just leave it out on your hand, like it sings and such.

(example:

Your shade-skink curls up in your palm. The lizard keens a faint song to itself while examining one razor-sharp claw with squinted crimson eyes. Once it has finished the inspection, it regains its feet.)

They are un-attuned, and to my knowledge you can have more than one.

SOLD.

Yea, and not quite worth it either in my books. Neat things, but for the 40-50m people have bid on them, is kinda silly.

If someone wants a pet, that blows off your limbs every now and again too if you forget about it, I'll gladly be yours for the small sum of 30million

If you don't want it/it's too expensive, then don't bid.

Problem solved.

Getting a little defensive at people doubting the value? If it were someone else selling you would be all over their ass for posting such a ridiculous item at such a stupid price.

I just get concerned about items getting priced this high while the event is still going on.

Defensive would be me telling you to wait till you don't need tampons to plug up your ever-bleeding, busted cunt before you post on the PCs again, or invest in a ton of midol to help with some of your permanent PMS (not that it will help).

Again, don't like the price? Try to haggle, or don't buy it. Not a hard concept. Others have been sold for 40+ mil, either in actual silver, or equivalent value item trades. I'm asking for like-price. If I don't get a bite, I'll go from there. I'm obviously not desperate to sell the thing.

They've sold as high as 51m, and around 35m was the lowest.

I don't think it's shocking that I picked a number in between but would like the highest price possible. In the context of what they've been selling for, this is not extreme in the slightest.

actually the one I saw for sale, I asked why and price, she simply said, I'm not fond of pets, especially ones that crawl in my skin.

edited: I also don't know shit about fluff pricing, and I personally wouldn't pay over 10m for one, but that's just me, i suppose if people are willing to pay 35m to 51m they are worth it.

The real question Allereli, lets say you found one, and you didn't want it

and you saw them being sold for 35m to 51m, would you sell yours for 10m?

doubtful, you'd get what you could imo.

Pretty much.

What one person doesn't like, another person does. There are a limited number of these things, and some people REALLY want them. Obviously I'm going to take the highest price, and if they're selling for between 35m and 50m, I'm gonna shoot for in between, if not even higher.

If someone doesn't think they'd pay that much, or isn't interested, that's fine. No one is holding a gun to their head and telling them to bid, bid, bid. But there's no point for them to come in here and flip the bitch switch.

yes, and I don't think it will be that much anymore. the novelty factor has dried up quite a bit.

I've been hearing the 40-50mil quotes as well but then again, they're still new and I have a feeling the price will drop as the novelty wears off.

For what it's worth someone offered me "an original shadowdeath dagger" for mine. I'm not sure what the difference is between new and original but hey, if it's old it's worth millions right? I didn't take it.

The crossbow I had, sold for 375 bucks, cash. Even valueing Coin at 10per mil, that's ALMOST 40mil.

Anyhow, you're argument or whatever it is you just made, is pretty invalid since it sold for a value of almost 40mil. Matter of fact, at 9 per, it sold for more than 40m.

Thanks though

I didn't say you were bidding.

I said bid, haggle, or stfu. I'm not dropping the MB right now, period. So making a point to complain about the price is moot.

I also saw what happened to Katara, sucks, but that's life. Again though, people are obviously willing to pay quite a bit for one. It shouldn't come as a shock that I want to get the maximum price possible.

Getting a little defensive at people doubting the value? If it were someone else selling you would be all over their ass for posting such a ridiculous item at such a stupid price.

If you were at EG and paying attention, you'd have noted that they've been selling at live auction for as high as 50m (twice) so it wasn't a random ass fluke. That was simply at the event as well. Selling on the open market has quite a few more potential buyers.

They're kinda like forehead gems. Either you appreciate what it is for what it is, or you don't. The price doesn't need to make sense to you for it to move.

Yes, I know what they've been selling for, and we've been pointing out the novelty factor has been very high because they've just come out and are the newest big toy.

The fact that they are new does not change the fact that the most current market indicators show that her price isn't outrageous.

I actually wasn't the one initially arguing the outrageousness of her price, I was arguing her defensiveness in the thread when all people were doing was discussing their value. It happens in a lot of PC threads, she shouldn't be surprised it happened in hers.

lol @ "Bid or stfu, I'm not changing the price" being "defensive". It's a fact. I'm not going to change the price. And those are their options.

I think I gave you a suitably "defensive" example for reference though.

no there's a difference between discussing value, and just flamming

these were just found, just started being sold

you've never owned one, you've never seen one for sale

and if you had, you'd notice they'd sell for 35m+

so you claiming they aren't worth that, maybe to you, but you if you go by "current" market value, the value is 35m+

that's the end of the story, if you're going to discuss and claim you are discussing, don't flame and say this, that and this, and go on a rant how they aren't worth this, tbh, the only plausable thing we can value it at, is what they've been selling for.

I don't find what Allereli said to be out of line. I've been on the receiving end of it, particularly in this folder for selling a number of critter found weapons. It's all fair game.

I personally think the item is a piece of crap, but someone out there wildly fascinated by it will probably cough up the 40 or so to get one, and they'll feel great about it.
