Questions to you forgers out there (bluesmith, ahem! ;-)

1. Does level affect success? I am thinking about leveling an alt to 10 to be my forging master.

2. Ideal class for forging? Warrior can have str and con as base stats above 100, which means i can raise some other stats like dex, logic and disc up too. What about bard? Does song of luck affect forging? Can anyone say for sure 100% that it doesnt?

3. Do you gain skill from working with all metal types? For example if I practice with steel or a cheap metal, can I still learn all the way to 500?

4. Are there some tools I should buy at EG if I want to get into forging (other than slabs obviously)?

Thanks!

I don't remember the specifics of it, but when forging first came out I remember that race, and not profession made some manner of difference in forging. You might wanna look that info up somewhere if you're interested in maximizing your potential.

Thanks fellas.

Human: NA
Halfling: NA
Giantman: NA
Dwarf: Crafting - bonus/Forging - small bonus
Elf: Crafting - bonus/Forging - small bonus
Half Elf: NA
Half Krolvin: not known (no one has said anything)
Sylvan: Crafting - handicap/Forging - small handicap
Dark Elf: Crafting - bonus/Forging - small bonus
Bard: Crafting - significant handicap
Cleric: Crafting - significant handicap
Empath: Crafting - significant handicap
Paladin: Crafting - small handicap/Forging - small bonus
Ranger: NA
Rogue: NA
Sorcerer: Crafting - significant handicap
Warrior: Crafting - small handicap/Forging - small bonus
Wizard: Crafting - significant handicap
So it looks like a Dark Elf Warrior/Paladin would be the best combo for bonuses.

No, a dwarf warrior/paladin would be best. Mastery gets a bit easier if you have a logic bonus over 20 (adds +1 to the rank learning roll), and dwarves get a bonus of 5 to logic.
