View Full Version : Songs you're ashamed to have on your MP3 player

I let one of my coworkers play around with my iPhone during a break at a recruiting fair today, and all of a sudden she bursts out laughing at me.
The reason?
Gonna Fly Now is prominently featured on my list of Top 25 played songs.
My initial reaction was "Eff you, I defy you to find a guy who doesn't get pumped up by the Rocky theme song."
My second reaction was "Fuck, I hope she doesn't find out that I have a Jason Mraz song on there..."

You only have to be ashamed if you have a William Hung mp3 on it.

All of my music is laugh worthy by most everyone else so it doesn't bother me. Lots of classical, barbershop, opera, 80's, hair bands, etc.

Most people would probably laugh at most of my music as well, but the 80s pop songs are the ones that are probably most "shameful", heh.
I'm not really ashamed of it but I get hassled by friends about it. I have the full Katamari Damacy soundtrack on there.

The theme song to Gummi Bears. Bouncing here and there and everywhere. High adventure that's beyond compare. They are the Gummi Bears.

Depending on the company (since I use my MP3 player in my car and at work), "Dance Motherfucker Dance" by Violent Femmes can be an awkward one.

I have all sorts of popular crap on my mp3 player.
I'd say "Break the Ice" by Britney Spears, and "My Favorite Things" by Julie Andrews are the most embarrassing.

Itty Bitty by Alan Jackson. I'm not a big country fan but I like this song. It's a good thing because my son adores it.

I have a lot of 80's pop and country on my player which can be embarassing depending on the context, but the most embarrasing thing I have is probably Left of the Middle by Natalie Imbruglia (pretty much the whole CD). Other honorable mentions: Boyfriend by Avril Lavigne, She Said by Brie Larson, Men Don't Change by Amy Dalley, and Breathless by the Coors.

This is me as well. I have Debbie Gibson on mine.
And I can't believe I just admitted that.

I like The Cure, but have you seen their video for Lovesong? It looks like an emo version of the movie "Labyrinth." I'd liked the song for yeeeears and finally saw the video, to my horror. Still love the song, though.

All their videos are emo because they ARE emo. If they had sunshine and flowers I'd fucking worry. :D

Lovesong, by the Cure.
You have the video to lovesong on your mp3 player? Seriously though, of all the cure songs, Lovesong is one of the most upbeat. The Jack off Jill version's pretty damn good too.
My most embarassing/annoying song to me personally is The Becoming by NIN ... for the screaming that is constantly looped through the song. That reminds me to remove that song.

Hmm ... I'm not too embarrassed by having Young MC, Digital Underground, Toad the Wet Sprocket, or PM Dawn on my playlist.
I did leave my nano on my manager's desk last week. While holding a staff meeting I could hear ... "WTF, Ann Hathaway? Brad Paisley? Holy shit MCR? You're one sick man Kal."
I need to place a want add.

I have an unfortunate amount of BRitney Spears on my iPod. Every time it comes up, I wonder how it got there. I think my sister put it on when she borrowed it.
