Alright, planning to do a voln fu ranger. How's this skill plan look?

At level 6:

Armor Use..........................| 50 10
Shield Use..........................| 35 7
Brawling.............................| 74 16
Physical Fitness...................| 66 14
Dodging.............................| 35 7
Harness Power....................| 35 7
Spirit Mana Control..............| 35 7
Survival..............................| 35 7
Perception..........................| 66 14

Spell Lists
Ranger.............................| 6

I plan to get armor to 40 for brig ASAP then stop.

Too bad you need 130 ranks in armor for 12% hinderance in brig. 150 if you want to cast elemental.

looks good. Just an idea but you could switch shield for ranged. DS with a bow is pretty decent, low bolt DS though. It would give you a second attack method in case you have trouble with fu(shouldn't).

Why a ranger would cast elemental magic is beyond me. Anyway. 45 ranks trains off all hindrance for Elemental/Spiritual anyway Bob. As for your train, Artha, I don't see the point of Spiritual Control. Its not like you need mana so much. I'd pump it into something else, possible for ranks of MOC, although if you just want to Fu, this is useless. Maybe even use it to 1.5x spells.

Dont bring spells over 1.5x, if you do anything put it into PT. The redux bonus will be superior to the spell bonus.

ASG MnSp MjSp Cler MnEl MjEl Rang Sorc Empa Wiza Bard Max
9 Leather Breastplate 3 4 4 4 6 3 5 4 6 3 | 10
10 Cuirbouilli Leather 4 5 5 5 7 4 6 5 7 3 | 13
11 Studded Leather 5 6 6 6 9 5 8 6 9 3 | 16
12 Brigandine Armor 6 7 7 7 13 6 12 7 13 7 | 19

Hinderance/skill/ranks
12% 230 130
13% 250 150

Right. My mistake. 13% is for major elemental.

And it's 35 ranks, not 45.

Another thing, single train in armor for life. rangers dont have many things that aid in redux and armor is relatively cheap.

Definately agreeing with Elrodin on that one.

Rangers train in MnSp and Ranger circles... So that means they have 6% hinderence for both. Be nice if you knew what you were talking about bob.

Armor is pointless for redux. If you want to double armor simply for redux, you are wasting points. There are other cheaper skills that grant you redux. As for Bob, why did you even mention MnE?

And you're wrong:

Brig -
Armor RT: 6
Action Penalty: -13%
MnSpirit Hindrance: 6%
Ranger Hindrance: 6%
Max Hindrance: 28%
MAvA: 15

Ergo, 27 ranks to train off the spell hindrance down to 6% and 45 ranks to bring the MAvA down to 0.

OH I'M SO SORRY FOR NOT FUCKING CARING ENOUGH ABOUT RANGERS TO RESEARCH THEM.

Nobody here said double in armor. I said single in it for life and double in PT for redux purposes.

Well, that and my desire to be in Hauberk, at least in my case.

StrayRogue

Heh, there is that. I'd never do it for redux reasons simply. Personally, I'd go for hauberk as any semi profession, but thats me.

Oh, it's not just for redux. It's because I kick major ass when not having to worry I'm going to die from one hit. The last 4 times Stun has died is being fucking idiots let golems explode in invasions.

Brig is as far as you would want to go as a voln fu'er. If you go much higher then you will start hitting significantly larger penalties to your MB. Between that and the added spell hinderence I dont think its worth wearing it.

01-25-2004, 06:41 PM
Bob is an idiot. Its like 130 ranks for haubrek. I'm in chainshirt with 35 ranks and 7% hinderance. Otherwise your plan looks good.

45 to reduce MAvA.

My font isn't aligned. I read the numbers wrong. You can fuck off any time.

Nah, I want to double armor to get into brig without maneuver hinderance as quickly as possible, then I'll either drop down to singling or cut it out, depending on how the TPs work out.

Stunseed

I'd highly suggest to keep singling for life, in my opinion. Brig looks like paper to me since I made the switch. As far as Voln-Fu I couldn't tell you, though.

StrayRogue

Yeah, and you can always downgrade to brig, should you feel the need. And as Elrodin said, armor use is cheap redux food.
