MillerCoors Ends Production of Zima

MILWAUKEE (AP) -- MillerCoors LLC says goodbye to Zima.

The joint venture between SABMiller's U.S. unit and Molson Coors Brewing Co. told distributors in a letter Monday that production of the malt liquor beverage was discontinued as of Oct. 10.

Chief Marketing Officer Andy England says the decision was due to weakness in the ''malternative'' segment and declining consumer interest.

He says distributors can get remaining Zima inventories most likely through December.

Distributors are being asked to put products from alcoholic energy brand Sparks on retail store shelves to make up for Zima's absence.

The brand came to the joint venture from Molson Coors, maker of Coors Light and Keystone.

I know, it was just one of the things I served when I was 16 and threw a party. say all you want about how much it sucked, we drank it.

I never really thought of Zima as a douchebag drink, but rather a chick drink. That and Smirnoff Ice.

I vote RB+Vodka as a douchebag drink of choice. Tequila is up there too.

Wow, that takes me back. I remember being underage and somehow getting someone to buy us a couple of packs of Zima and some grenadine. Tasted like a Shirley Temple but we managed to get drunk and that's all that counts at sixteen.

I don't hang out in retarded lounges where I'd pay anywhere near $20 a drink. If you want a sure sign that you're a douche bag it's hanging out at an overpriced lounge.

i'm just telling you what we charged for it at the bar I worked at in Georgetown. People paid it. All the time. I'm sure they still do.

it was (and still is) a college sports bar. So definitely full of douchebags, but a far cry from "an overpriced lounge."

Once my wife and I were studying at a Coffee Bean in Westwood. There was an old homeless man sitting outside of the storefront windows looking in with binoculars.

I got up to go to the bathroom and while I was away he came inside and told my wife, "I'd like to lick you, then nibble you, then eat you with a fork and knife."

We promptly drove to the Coffee Bean in Santa Monica.

Yeah, definitely. Zima was nasty, but I drank it when I was young. I worked at this little deli and my manager was pretty awesome. When the owners were gone and we were shutting down for the night, he'd let me buy alcohol. And i'd almost always buy some Zima with whatever else I bought.

I totally got caught once by my mom, too. One of the bottles broke in my backpack while I was walking home and the entire thing stunk of Zima. lol
